Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work evenings or weekends depending on academic needs

The Role

We are seeking an inspiring and committed Lecturer in Health and Social Care to join our academic team at our Derby Campus.

You will deliver high quality teaching across undergraduate programmes, support student learning and progression, and contribute to curriculum development and academic quality processes. This role offers an opportunity for an enthusiastic educator or industry professional passionate about shaping future health and social care practitioners.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Delivery

  • Deliver high quality teaching across Health and Social Care modules at undergraduate level

  • Design and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops using inclusive and student centred approaches

  • Develop and maintain up to date teaching materials aligned with current sector practices and regulatory standards

  • Apply innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
Assessment and Student Support
  • Design, set, assess, and moderate a range of assessments in line with programme requirements

  • Provide timely, constructive, and fair feedback to support student development

  • Supervise dissertations, research projects, and placements where applicable

  • Act as a personal tutor, supporting students academically and pastorally

  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, and progression
Research and Scholarly Activity
  • Engage in scholarly activity to inform teaching practice

  • Contribute to research projects, publications, or knowledge exchange initiatives

  • Maintain up to date subject knowledge and professional practice
Quality Assurance and Academic Administration
  • Participate in programme development, review, and accreditation processes

  • Contribute to internal moderation, standardisation, and external examiner processes

  • Attend assessment boards, academic committees, and team meetings

  • Ensure compliance with academic regulations and quality standards
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build relationships with health and social care providers to support placements and collaboration

  • Represent the College at professional events and external networks

  • Contribute to community engagement and partnership development
About You

Essential

  • Master’s degree in health and social care or a closely related field

  • Undergraduate degree in Health and Social Care or related discipline

  • Experience teaching or training in higher education or professional settings

  • Ability to design, assess, and evaluate academic work

  • Strong communication, organisational, and presentation skills

  • Commitment to inclusive, student centred teaching and learning

  • Ability to support diverse student cohorts effectively
Desirable
  • PhD or equivalent professional experience

  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCert in Learning \& Teaching) or willingness to obtain one

  • Experience in health or social care practice

  • Evidence of research, publications, or conference engagement

  • Knowledge of quality assurance frameworks in higher education
