An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Paraplanning to join a successful and growing independent wealth management and financial planning firm.
This established, employee-focused business has been providing high-quality financial advice and investment management solutions to private clients for over 30 years. With a strong reputation for excellence and a commitment to long-term client relationships, they are seeking a technically strong and people-focused individual to lead their paraplanning function.
The Role
This is a hybrid role combining hands-on paraplanning responsibilities with leadership and management duties. You will work closely with Financial Planners, Administrators and senior stakeholders to deliver a high-quality service whilst driving the development and performance of the paraplanning team.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (35-hour week).
Key Responsibilities
Paraplanning
- Analyse clients' circumstances, objectives, requirements and attitude to risk
- Review and assess existing financial arrangements
- Analyse capital gains tax positions and wider tax considerations
- Conduct product and provider research
- Prepare suitability reports and recommendation letters
- Assist with client reviews and attend client meetings where appropriate
- Respond to client and colleague queries
- Maintain accurate client records
- Keep up to date with regulatory and industry developments
- Lead and manage the paraplanning team, including appraisals and regular one-to-one meetings
- Oversee workflow allocation and team capacity planning
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members
- Participate in operational and strategic planning meetings
- Work alongside senior leadership to support business growth and development
- Chair team meetings and drive team engagement
- Collaborate with Compliance, Financial Planners and Operations teams
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and audits
- Ensure consistency and technical excellence across paraplanning outputs
- Minimum 5 years' paraplanning experience
- Level 4 Diploma qualified (or equivalent)
- Previous people management experience
- Strong technical knowledge of pensions, investments and financial services regulation
- Excellent report-writing ability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High levels of numeracy and analytical capability
- Research and problem-solving skills
- Strong IT proficiency
- Self-motivated with a collaborative approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Passionate about delivering exceptional client service
