Head of Marketing — Memorials Direct B76, Sutton Coldfield \| Full\-time \| £30,000–£40,000

About us

Memorials Direct is a small, founder\-led UK e\-commerce business selling personalised granite memorials, memorial benches, wooden crosses and urns, direct to families across the country. Right now there are just three of us, the founder and two full time employees, and we've built a 5\-star Trustpilot reputation by genuinely caring about what we do. We're actively expanding our product range and this hire is a big part of how we grow.

The role

This is a rare opportunity to own marketing completely. You'll be our first and only dedicated marketer, working directly alongside the founder, with full responsibility across every channel. You'll have the freedom to make real decisions and put your own stamp on how we grow.

It's a broad role and we won't pretend otherwise. You'll need to be genuinely capable across multiple areas rather than deeply specialist in just one. If you're someone who thrives in a small team, gets stuck in and takes pride in building something, this could be a brilliant fit. If you're used to large teams and lots of support around you, it probably isn't.

This role is central to the growth of the business. We're not looking for someone to manage things quietly in the background. We want someone who thinks commercially, understands what drives revenue, and is hungry to make a real impact.

What you'll be doing

You'll run our paid ads across Google and Meta, managing spend and making sure we're getting the most out of every pound. Alongside that you'll own our email marketing, building campaigns and automated flows that actually convert. We're also looking to grow our B2B side, targeting organisations like florists, golf courses, schools and local councils, so experience in trade or lead gen would be a big plus. You'll manage our social media with the sensitivity our audience deserves, keep an eye on the website and SEO, and report back to us on what's working and what isn't.

What we're looking for

You'll have 3 to 5 years of broad digital marketing experience, ideally from an e\-commerce or similarly hands\-on background. You'll be comfortable running paid search campaigns, managing budgets, and working with email and CRM tools. Some exposure to B2B marketing would be great, though it doesn't have to be your main background.

Just as important as the marketing skills is how you work. You'll be highly organised, able to juggle multiple things at once without dropping the ball, and someone who follows through on what they say they'll do. You'll think commercially, understanding how marketing activity translates into revenue and growth, not just clicks and impressions. Above all, you'll be someone who gets on with things and takes real pride in ownership. Given the nature of our products, emotional intelligence matters too, our customers are often going through a really difficult time.

What we offer

We're offering £30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience. The role is based at our office in Sutton Coldfield with some remote working available for the right candidate.
