Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Maintenance to oversee all maintenance operations within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of technicians, ensuring the optimal functioning of all mechanical and electrical systems, and implementing preventative maintenance programmes. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent organisational skills to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team, providing guidance and support to ensure high standards of performance.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, including scheduled inspections, repairs, and upgrades.

  • Manage projects related to equipment installation, upgrades, or repairs, ensuring timely completion within budget.

  • Oversee the utilisation of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and interpret schematics for troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and electrical systems to identify potential issues before they cause operational disruptions.

  • Coordinate with other departments to plan maintenance activities that minimise impact on production schedules.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment history.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all staff.
Qualifications
  • Proven management experience in a maintenance or engineering environment, with supervisory responsibilities.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Extensive mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience; familiarity with schematics and PLC systems is essential.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and planning.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in engineering or maintenance disciplines are highly desirable.

  • Prior experience in managing maintenance operations within an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred. This role offers an opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead our maintenance department towards operational excellence through strategic planning and expert technical oversight.
Pay: £30,000\.00\-£35,000\.00 per year
