Head of People & Organisational Development
Salary: £47,000 - £50,000 per annum
Location: UK-based | Hybrid/Home-Based

Are you an experienced HR and organisational development professional looking to make a real impact within a values-led organisation?

We are seeking a Head of People & Organisational Development to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is a strategic and operational role, responsible for developing and delivering a people strategy that strengthens culture, leadership, employee experience and organisational capability.

Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide expert people advice, drive organisational development initiatives and ensure effective HR practices support long-term success. You'll play a key role in creating an inclusive, high-performing environment where employees can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the People & Organisational Development Strategy.

  • Lead initiatives focused on culture, employee engagement, wellbeing and inclusion.

  • Build leadership and management capability across the organisation.

  • Support workforce planning, succession planning and talent retention.

  • Oversee core HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, contracts, policies, payroll information and employee records.

  • Provide advice and coaching to managers on employee relations and people matters.

  • Lead organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Produce workforce reports and people insights for senior leaders and trustees.

  • Attend Board and Committee meetings, providing professional advice and assurance on people matters.

  • Ensure HR processes and policies remain compliant with employment legislation and best practice.

About You

You will be an experienced HR leader who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and build strong relationships across all levels of an organisation.

Essential:

  • Significant experience within HR, People or Organisational Development leadership roles.

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

  • Experience improving organisational culture, employee engagement and leadership capability.

  • Proven experience managing employee relations matters and advising managers.

  • Experience preparing reports, papers or presentations for senior leadership teams, boards or committees.

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.

  • Ability to manage a broad workload independently within a remote or hybrid environment.

  • Confidence using HR systems, digital technology and AI-enabled tools.

Desirable:
  • Experience within a charity, education, healthcare, social care or other values-led organisation.

  • Exposure to governance processes and board-level reporting.
