Head of Growth \& Client Success (UK)

£50,000–£60,000 \+ up to £5,000 annual performance bonus

South East based \| Hybrid \| London, client and event travel

We’re Branded by Aquila – a fresh\-blooded outsourced brand and marketing partner that’s shakin’ up the agency model. In fact, we hate the word agency.

We embed. We collaborate. We innovate. And we work almost exclusively across the recruitment industry – supporting recruitment agencies and the businesses that supply them to stand out, bill more and be better.

We’ve grown quickly, built an incredible client base and created a reputation for doing things differently and brilliantly. Now, as BbA enters its next phase of growth – including international expansion – we’re looking for someone pretty pivotal.

Someone commercial. Someone brilliant with people. Someone who understands great marketing.

We’re not for everyone. If you want a comfortable corporate role with a narrow remit, repeatable routine and a place to hide – stop reading now.

We’re looking for a humble firecracker that can help lead a small, ambitious business without needing a big corporate hierarchy around them. This isn’t a traditional sales role. It isn’t a traditional account management role. And it definitely isn’t a role where “Head of” means sitting back and delegating everything to everyone else. We’re a tight\-knit growing business. Everyone gets stuck in.

What’s our vibe?

Challenger energy. Collaborative brains. Creative boldness. We work hard, move quickly and care an unreasonable amount about the quality of what goes out the door. Our values aren’t wall art either:

Be Self\-Propelling. Be Brave with Creativity. Be Empowered, to Empower.

Networking, personal branding, relationships and living what we preach matter here. We want somebody who enjoys being part of the market, not just somebody who knows how to manage it from behind a laptop.

A flavour of what you’ll actually do

This role sits across four important areas of BbA: commercial growth, client experience, team leadership and quality.

Commercial growth

You’ll help protect and grow BbA’s UK business while our Founder increasingly focuses on international expansion. That means:

  • Building genuine relationships across the recruitment industry and its supply chain

  • Spotting new business opportunities through our clients, network, events, partners and wider ecosystem

  • Nurturing opportunities rather than relying on cold, transactional selling

  • Supporting and leading pitches, proposals and commercial conversations

  • Growing existing client relationships where there’s a genuine opportunity to add value

  • Developing relationships that strengthen our visibility and create opportunities

  • Representing BbA at industry events, dinners, roundtables and networking opportunities

  • Building your own personal brand and becoming a recognised face of BbA

  • Helping make sure the UK business continues to grow as we expand internationally
There will be commercial targets attached to the role – but we care just as much about how you create the result as the number itself.

Client experience

We’re embedded partners to our clients. That means relationships matter. You’ll:

  • Become a trusted senior point of contact across key client relationships

  • Make sure clients feel looked after, understood and challenged in the right way

  • Spot issues before they become problems

  • Protect the quality of the work we deliver – our Friday matrix is our mantra!

  • Help teams turn client objectives into strong, commercially relevant marketing activity

  • Internally challenge briefs and thinking where something could be better

  • Support onboarding, renewal and account growth conversations

  • Step in when a client needs a more senior commercial or strategic conversation

  • Make sure “premium” remains the standard even as BbA grows
Team leadership

You’ll lead the team day to day and become a key people point of contact within the UK business. But we’re not looking to build an office full of “I’m the boss” energy. Quite the opposite. You’ll be there to help people do their best work. Being a selfless leader:

  • Understanding what different members of the team need to thrive

  • Giving clear direction, feedback and support

  • Helping unblock problems without becoming the answer to everything

  • Encouraging the team to collaborate rather than operate in silos

  • Supporting performance, development and the usual people/HR conversations that come with leading a team

  • Celebrating great work and giving credit where it’s due

  • Holding the quality bar when something isn’t quite there yet
You’ll work particularly closely with our Client Delivery \& Operations Manager, which retains responsibility for key BbA operations and specialist delivery verticals including website, SEO, AI SEO and copywriting.

It’s collaborative leadership, not empire building.

Getting stuck in

Small business rule: sometimes you just need to roll your sleeves up. You should be comfortable moving from a commercial conversation to supporting campaign deliverables, improving a client presentation, sense\-checking some messaging, helping shape an idea or getting involved when the team needs another pair of hands.

You don’t need to be the deepest specialist in every marketing discipline. But you do need enough broad marketing knowledge to know what good looks like. And enough curiosity to ask questions when you don’t.

Love at first sight if you:

  • Have proven experience operating at a senior level across B2B marketing, commercial growth, client leadership or a combination of the three

  • Understand how marketing drives commercial outcomes – not just engagement metrics

  • Are naturally strong at building relationships and growing networks

  • Can hold your own with Founders, Directors and senior client stakeholders

  • Are comfortable generating new business without being a “stereotypical salesperson”

  • Have experience leading and developing people

  • Can balance high standards with a supportive leadership style

  • Are commercially minded and understand margin, client value and growth

  • Have broad enough marketing knowledge to challenge, guide and improve work

  • Know when to lead, when to coach and when to simply get stuck in

  • Have strong emotional intelligence and can adapt how you work with different people

  • Enjoy ambiguity, momentum and being close to the action

  • Are self\-propelling – waiting to be told what to do won’t work here
We’ll put a ring on it if you also have:
  • Experience within recruitment, staffing or the recruitment supply chain

  • An existing industry network / personal brand

  • Experience in an agency, consultancy or other multi\-client environment

  • Experience growing accounts and winning work through relationships and referrals

  • Experience helping a Founder\-led business reduce dependency on the Founder

  • Exposure to an international or scaling business
Location \& working style

This is a South East\-based hybrid role. We expect face\-to\-face time to matter (you should want this and enjoy it!), particularly for somebody leading a team and building relationships.

You should expect roughly 3 days each week to involve the office/team, clients, London meetings, networking or events, depending on what’s happening.

Some weeks will be quieter. Others definitely won’t.

Hold up \- what can we give you?

  • £50,000–£60,000 depending on experience

  • Up to £5,000 annual performance bonus

  • 37\.5\-hour working week

  • A little flexibility around your start and finish times

  • Simply Health plan with 24/7 GP access

  • Pension scheme

  • Discounted gym membership

  • 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays

  • \+1 additional day of leave for every two years served

  • Wellbeing mornings / Volunteering / CSR days

  • Regular socials, industry events and networking opportunities

  • Monthly incentives to be won on our “giant wheel”

  • Yearly team incentive based on performance

  • A culture where creativity genuinely matters

  • Genuine influence over how the business evolves

  • Direct access to the Founder and leadership team

  • The opportunity to become a major part of BbA’s next phase of growth

  • International exposure as we expand

  • No glass ceilings and no ten layers of approval before you can make something happen
The hidden benefits of joining now

You won’t be joining to maintain something somebody else built, you’ll help shape what comes next.

BbA is moving from a Founder\-led growth business into something bigger, more scalable and increasingly international. That creates a rare opportunity for the right person to step into a role with real influence – across our people, our clients, our commercial growth and ultimately the future value of the business.

If you want to build, lead, challenge, grow and get stuck in – we should talk.

Be Self\-Propelling. Be Brave with Creativity. Be Empowered, to Empower. Be part of Branded by Aquila.

Pay: £50,000\.00\-£60,000\.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Additional leave

  • Casual dress

  • Company events

  • Company pension

  • Private medical insurance

  • Work from home
