Head of Finance

21 hours per week: £24,000 p/a pro\-rata \[£40,000 FTE]

Surrey Community Action is a purpose\-led, not\-for\-profit organisation working to strengthen Surrey’s communities and voluntary sector.

We support charities and community groups through advocacy, representation, information and advice, while delivering projects that give people facing difficult circumstances a helping hand.

We’re looking for a Head of Finance to lead our financial management, governance and resources, helping to ensure Surrey Community Action is financially strong and well equipped to support charities, communities and people across Surrey.

You’ll lead on the financial management of Surrey Community Action ensuring our finances are well managed and our statutory and regulatory responsibilities are met. You’ll oversee accounts, audit, payroll, pensions, investments, insurance and financial risk, while providing clear and trusted advice to our Chief Executive, Treasurer and Trustees.

But this is much more than a finance role. As a member of our Management Team, you’ll contribute to the wider strategic direction of Surrey Community Action, helping us make the most of our resources, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and develop income that can be invested back into our charitable work. You’ll also oversee contracts and tenders, work with colleagues on our offices and IT infrastructure, and act as Company Secretary.

You’ll manage and support our Finance Assistant and work closely with colleagues across the organisation, building positive relationships and helping budget holders understand and manage their finances effectively. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop financial tools and services that can support other charities and community groups across Surrey.

We’re looking for someone with strong financial charity management experience, sound judgement and excellent attention to detail, who can communicate confidently with people at all levels.
