Job Summary:
The Head of Finance is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of AW, which is a growing SME. The primary role is to ensure the accuracy, integrity and compliance of the financial records, including management information used to drive operational efficiency and decision making.
This role also involves a high degree of detailed cash management, which is a key factor within a growing business. This role requires strong organisational and methodical skills, along with a genuine passion for delivering excellent service. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial attributes for success in this position.
Purpose and Objectives of the Role:
- Implement and execute budgetary controls, and operational reporting and forecasting to support AWs goals. Provide financial information and insight to support business decision making.
- Implement and execute appropriate financial processes to support the accuracy and efficiency of AWs operations and management information.
- Comply with statutory financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain robust, size\-appropriate, internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
- Develop and support the Purchasing/Office Manager in performing her role, as well as provide financial support to the wider AW team.
- Ensure that timely and accurate accounting records are maintained for AW.
- Ensure that appropriate and accurate management information is available to support operational processes and key business decisions.
- Ensure that the business is appropriately funded to meet its commitments and that cash is properly managed, in accordance with agreed supplier terms/statutory requirements.
- Ensure that all statutory reporting requirements are met.
- Ensure that the Purchasing Manager role is fully supported and developed as appropriate. Ensure that financial support is provided to the wider AW team.
- Ensure that any external service suppliers (eg bookkeeper, accountant, lawyer) are appropriately engaged and managed.
- Ensure that appropriate controls are implemented to safeguard the company’s assets.
The Head of Finance will have the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on the company’s financial health and success. The role ensures that appropriate management and reporting is in place to support effective business decisions and ensure compliance with both operational and regulatory/statutory requirements. The role will involve strong relationships both internally and with key external stakeholders such as HMRC and bookkeepers/accountants. The role will ensure that an appropriate control structure is in place to safeguard the company’s assets.
Requirements and Skills:
- Accounting qualification eg ACCA, ACA
- Ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for your deliverables
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to perform diverse tasks and contribute to the success of Analogue Wonderland as a small business
- Interest or passion for film photography (preferred)
