Head of FDM 3D Printing

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced FDM professional to own and lead our FDM production department. This is a hands\-on leadership role. You will be responsible for the output, quality, and efficiency of the FDM operation, managing a small team of technicians and working directly with engineering and sales to deliver to customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Own day\-to\-day FDM production \- throughput, quality, on\-time delivery


• Manage and develop FDM technician(s)


• Set up, operate and maintain industrial FDM machines including large\-format and carbon fibre composite systems


• Define and own print parameters, material profiles and post\-processing standards


• Work with engineering on DFM and build orientation decisions


• Drive process improvements to reduce waste, reprint rates and downtime


• Maintain accurate production records and flag issues to management early


• Contribute to quoting on technically complex FDM jobs

• Proven hands\-on experience running industrial FDM machines in a production environment not just prototyping doesnt have to be 10's of thousands of parts per year. Just more than one offs.


• Strong knowledge of FDM materials: standard and engineering\-grade (Nylon, PETG, PC, TPU etc.)


• Experience with carbon fibre composite FDM (Markforged, Anisoprint or similar) is a strong advantage


• Experience with Bambu/Orca/Prusa Slicer developing your own profiles.


• Previous supervisory or team lead experience (If you don't have this but believe you can take this on we still want to hear from you!)


• Methodical approach to process \- you document, you improve, you don't guess


• Comfortable working in a fast\-paced production environment with real delivery pressure

• A genuine leadership role \- this is not a token title
