Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Head Housekeeper to join our team at the Best Western Pontypool Metro Hotel.

Reporting to hotel management, you will be responsible for leading the housekeeping department and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction throughout the hotel.

This is a hands\-on role suited to someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and previous supervisory experience within hospitality or housekeeping. As a small team this role will require you to service and clean rooms daily, supporting your team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day\-to\-day operation of the housekeeping department


• Supervise, support, and motivate the housekeeping team


• Ensure guest rooms and public areas are cleaned and maintained to brand standards


• Conduct room inspections and quality checks


• Manage staff rotas, holidays, and departmental scheduling


• Train new team members and support ongoing staff development


• Monitor and control housekeeping stock and supplies


• Ensure compliance with all health \& safety and COSHH regulations


• Work closely with reception and maintenance teams to deliver excellent guest experiences

• Previous experience in a housekeeping supervisory or management role


• Hotel experience preferred


• Strong leadership and communication skills


• Excellent attention to detail and high cleanliness standards


• Ability to work independently and manage a team effectively


• Flexible approach to working shifts, including weekends and bank holidays


• Good organisational and time management skills


• Must be able to commute to the hotel on a daily basis


• Please note: this position does not offer live\-in accommodation

• Job Type: Part\-time, Permanent


• Hours: 30 hours per week


• Working Pattern: 5 days over a 7\-day period, including weekends and bank holidays as required
