Role Purpose
As our Head Hostess at …At Sloane, you will lead and organise the host team, ensuring the guest journey is managed with precision, elegance, and consistency from the moment of booking through to departure. Acting as the main point of reference for the hostess team, you will work closely with the Restaurant Manager, Bar Manager, and wider operations team to ensure reservations, guest flow, communication, and presentation standards are executed faultlessly.
This role is heavily operational and team\-focused, requiring strong leadership, organisation, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of luxury hospitality standards. You will play a key role in developing the host team, maintaining operational structure, and ensuring the team delivers warm, polished, and highly personalised service in line with the …At Sloane ethos.
Your role will include the following responsibilities:
Host Team Leadership \& Organisation:
- Lead, organise, and support the host team on a daily basis, ensuring smooth communication and consistency of service.
- Draft and release the hostess rota in collaboration with the restaurant manager.
- Act as the main point of reference for hosts during service and assist in managing the flow of the restaurant and bar alongside management.
- Ensure all host duties and opening/closing responsibilities are completed accurately and consistently.
- Maintain and update SOPs for the host team, ensuring they are properly trained on and followed.
- Assist in training, coaching, and developing hosts to improve confidence, organisation, and service standards.
- Support the recruitment process for hosts through interviews, trial shifts, and feedback.
- Ensure all grooming and presentation standards are upheld across the host team at all times.
- Oversee the organisation of reservations and guest notes to ensure smooth service and strong guest recognition.
- Manage the Dine inbox and reservation platforms, ensuring timely responses and clear handovers between the team.
- Ensure guest profiles and preferences are accurately captured and updated within SevenRooms.
- Ensure the host team communicates accurate information regarding the restaurant, bar, menus, opening hours, and hotel concept.
- Collaborate closely with restaurant, bar, kitchen, and reception teams to ensure seamless communication throughout service.
- Delegate stations to the hostess team, and ensure the all team members are dutifully looking after their post (e.g. bar door, cloakroom, etc.)
- Assist management with operational planning for busy periods and special dates such as Valentine’s Day, NYE, and other key moments.
- Support the planning and coordination of private events and special activations in collaboration with the Quality \& Guest Experience Manager, Restaurant Manager, and Bar Manager, ensuring all guest\-facing details and reservations are organised seamlessly.
- Ensure booking policies, deposits, table allocations, and operational procedures are followed correctly during special dates and high\-volume services.
- Maintain a strong floor presence during service, assisting with guest recognition, arrivals, departures, and service recovery where necessary.
- Ensure the atmosphere at reception and throughout the guest arrival journey remains calm, polished, and welcoming at all times.
- Support the team in building long\-term guest relationships through consistency, professionalism, and attention to detail.
