Head Dental Receptionist (with Decon Duties)

Renew Dental is a modern, patient\-centred private practice in Walsall, founded with a genuine commitment to delivering bespoke dental care in a warm and welcoming environment. As our practice continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and confident lead receptionist to take ownership of the front\-of\-house function and play a central role in the day\-to\-day running of our team.
This pivotal role involves overseeing daily administrative operations within a busy dental practice, ensuring exceptional patient service, and managing a team to maintain smooth workflow. The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory skills, management experience, and a comprehensive understanding of financial and human resources management. Previous veterinary experience is considered a valuable asset. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment.
Due to the nature of this role, a Hepatitis B vaccination is required. Support with this will be provided by the practice, this can be provided during the induction process.
- Cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilising dental instruments in line with HTM 01\-05 guidelines
- Operating and monitoring autoclave and decontamination equipment
- Maintaining accurate decontamination records and cycle logs
- Supporting infection control compliance across the practice
- Full decontamination training will be provided
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the dental reception team, ensuring efficient patient flow and service delivery
- Oversee appointment scheduling, patient check\-in and check\-out processes, and maintain accurate patient records
- Manage financial transactions including billing, invoicing, and processing payments
- Handle enquiries from patients professionally via phone, email, or in person
- Support human resources functions such as staff training, performance reviews, and rostering
- Ensure compliance with practice policies and health \& safety regulations
- Collaborate with dental practitioners and other staff to optimise operational efficiency
- Maintain a welcoming environment for patients and visitors at all times
- Decontamination duties
- Proven supervising experience within a healthcare or veterinary setting
- Strong management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
- Sound knowledge of financial management including billing procedures and cash handling
- Experience in human resources functions such as recruitment, training, and performance management
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
- Previous veterinary experience is desirable but not essential; candidates with healthcare administration backgrounds are encouraged to apply
- Proficiency in practice management software is preferred wit SOE (software of excellence)
Pay: £13\.00\-£15\.00 per hour
