Group Marketing Executive (lead generation focus)

Salary: £25,000–£27,000

Company: Tavistock Investments PLC

Location: Barnsley/Hybrid

Reports to: Marketing Director, initially

Level: Junior

Experience: Ideally 2–3 years in marketing, digital marketing, demand generation or campaign delivery

The role: We’re looking for a commercially minded Marketing Executive with a strong focus on lead generation, campaign performance and growth. This is not a “post a few things on social and update the website” marketing role.

We want someone who is curious, fast\-moving and motivated by results. Someone who enjoys understanding what makes audiences respond, how campaigns convert, where leads come from and how marketing activity can genuinely support business growth.

As part of this, you will naturally work collaboratively with internal teams (e.g. Sales) to understand the requirements as well as across all Group brands.

You’ll work across digital channels, campaigns, content and performance marketing, with 60% of your role focused specifically on lead generation.

You don’t need 10 years of experience. You do need energy, judgement, initiative and a willingness to test, learn and improve quickly.

Role weighting:

60%: Lead Generation \& Performance Marketing

This is the heart of the role where you’ll help build, execute and optimise activity designed to generate high\-quality leads across multiple audiences and channels.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and delivering paid and organic lead\-generation campaigns

  • Building campaign journeys from audience and proposition through to landing page and conversion

  • Monitoring lead volumes, conversion rates, CPL and campaign performance

  • Working with CRM and sales teams to understand lead quality and outcomes

  • Identifying opportunities to improve performance across campaigns

  • Supporting paid social, paid search, email, landing\-page and retargeting activity

  • A/B testing messaging, creative, audiences and calls to action

  • Producing regular performance reporting and insight

  • Tracking campaigns from initial engagement through to lead and, where possible, conversion

  • Proactively spotting underperformance and recommending changes

  • Researching new audiences, channels and acquisition opportunities
We want someone who looks at a campaign and asks not just “Did it go live?” but “Did it work?”

15%: Content

You’ll support the creation of clear, engaging content designed to educate, engage and convert. This might include:

  • Website and landing\-page copy

  • Email content

  • Social media content

  • Campaign assets

  • Articles and thought\-leadership support

  • Lead\-generation content such as guides, downloads and gated assets

  • Repurposing existing content into new formats
You should be able to write well, understand tone of voice and adapt content for different audiences.

15%: Campaign Delivery

You’ll help deliver wider marketing campaigns across the business, working from brief through to execution. This could include:

  • Product or service campaigns

  • Employer or adviser campaigns

  • Brand initiatives

  • Events and webinars

  • Launches

  • Customer or client communications
You’ll be expected to manage your own actions, deadlines and dependencies without needing to be constantly chased.

10%: Insight, Optimisation and Marketing Operations

You’ll help us understand what is working, what isn’t and where we should focus next. This includes:

  • Campaign reporting and analysis

  • Maintaining accurate campaign and CRM data

  • Competitor and market research

  • Supporting SEO and AEO activity

  • Identifying trends and opportunities

  • Testing new marketing tools and approaches

  • Helping improve processes, reporting and marketing efficiency
What we’re looking for:

You’ll have around 2–3 years’ experience in a marketing, digital or lead\-generation role, but attitude and ability matter more to us than the perfect CV. You’ll ideally have experience of some of the following:

  • Digital marketing

  • Lead generation

  • Paid social or paid search

  • Email marketing

  • CRM systems

  • Landing pages

  • Campaign reporting

  • Google Analytics / GA4

  • Social media advertising platforms

  • SEO

  • Content creation
You don’t need to know everything on day one. You do need to be comfortable learning quickly.

You will also be working with a marketing team focussed on various specialities such as design, content, video and PR – so you will both – learn a lot and not be left to become a “lone marketer who does it all.”

The person: We’re looking for someone who

  • Takes ownership rather than waits to be chased

  • Works at pace and is comfortable with deadlines

  • Is commercially curious and interested in how marketing contributes to growth

  • Uses data to make decisions

  • Asks questions when something doesn’t make sense

  • Can prioritise and manage several pieces of work at once

  • Is confident enough to offer ideas and challenge thinking

  • Takes feedback well and acts on it

  • Notices things before they become problems

  • Is comfortable experimenting, testing and learning

  • Has strong attention to detail without letting perfection slow delivery

  • Understands that done, measured and improved is often better than endlessly perfected
What success looks like:

Within your first year, we’d expect you to be:

  • Independently managing several lead\-generation campaigns across all brands within the Group – with team support, of course

  • Consistently monitoring and reporting on performance

  • Understanding which channels, audiences and messages generate the strongest results

  • Proactively recommending campaign improvements

  • Producing high\-quality marketing content with minimal supervision

  • Managing deadlines reliably

  • Working effectively with sales and other teams

  • Showing measurable contribution to lead volumes and pipeline

  • Becoming someone the wider team trusts to own work and get it done
Why join us?

You’ll join an ambitious marketing team working across a growing financial\-services group, with exposure to multiple brands, audiences, channels and projects.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with senior marketing leadership and gain hands\-on experience across performance marketing, digital, content, brand, campaigns and commercial strategy.

For the right person, this could become a role with significant room to grow. If you want a job where you simply execute a task list, this probably isn’t it.

If you want to understand why marketing works, how it drives growth and how to become a genuinely rounded commercial marketer, we’d like to hear from you.
