We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Health \& Safety Manager lead the wider group activities in all things H\&S! You will play a key role in shaping and delivering our health and safety agenda across the Group Companies, supporting the delivery of our wider operational and strategic objectives.
This successful applicant will act as the Group's subject matter expert for Health \& Safety and other safety related topics, providing guidance and support across our Group Companies which currently include a converting facility, a bottling production plant and a brewing and hospitality site.
Working closely with senior leaders and site operational teams, you will ensure legal compliance is achieved, whilst driving a positive and proactive safety culture that supports operational excellence. You'll play a key role in developing Group\-wide policies and standards, driving continuous improvement and using insight and lessons learned to strengthen risk management and improve safety performance across the group businesses.
This is a unique opportunity to influence standards and ways of working across multiple operations, ensuring a consistent approach whilst recognising the different operational risks associated within the group activities.
Job Overview
- Acting as the Group Health \& Safety subject matter expert, providing guidance and supporting site leaders across manufacturing and hospitality operations.
- Developing and continuously improving Group Health \& Safety policies, standards and management systems to ensure compliance and consistency across the group sites.
- Building strong relationships with operational, engineering, maintenance, and HR teams to embed health and safety into day\-to\-day decision making.
- Leading audits, inspections and compliance reviews to maintain standards and identify further opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting the identification, assessment and management of operational risks and ensuring effective control measures are in place.
- Leading investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, using insight and performance data to drive continuous improvement and reduce risk.
- Producing and presenting health and safety performance information and recommendations to operational and senior leadership teams.
- Leading the development of fire safety arrangements and promoting a positive and proactive safety culture through training, coaching and engagement initiatives.
- Developing relationships with regulators, insurers and external partners to ensure the business remains aligned with legislative requirements and industry best practice.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) in Occupational Health \& Safety and Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or at least working towards this level of professional membership status.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Group locations
- Significant experience operating in a Health \& Safety leadership or business partnering roles within complex, multi\-site environments.
- Proven experience supporting manufacturing and production operations with specific experience within paper converting, bottling or similar environments desirable.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health \& Safety legislation, Approved Codes of Practice and recognised industry standards.
- Experience developing and implementing Health \& Safety strategies, policies and management systems that strengthen compliance and support business objectives.
- Strong risk management capability, with experience leading investigations, root cause analysis and embedding organisational learning.
- Experience using performance data, audit findings and insight to drive continuous improvement and evidence\-based decision making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and constructively challenge leaders at all levels.
- Experience driving positive safety culture and supporting organisational change through coaching, engagement and visible leadership.
