Group Health and Safety Manager
The Group Health and Safety Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational support across HERMEQ’s Manufacturing, steel stockholding and distribution facilities. The role is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving health, safety and compliance systems that protect employees, contractors, customers and visitors.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the Groups risk assessment programme, ensuing all risk assessments and safe systems of work are developed, reviewed and maintained to the highest standard. They will be responsible for ensuring risk assessments are effectively communicated to site manager and operational teams, formally acknowledged by employees and regularly audited to verify compliance and understanding.

The role will oversee Health and Safety across
· 2 manufacturing sites
· 3 distribution sites
· 1 steel stockholding site
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and implement the Group Health and Safety strategy aligned with business objectives
· Drive and lead the continual improvement of safety culture across all sites
· Ensure compliance with all relevant UK Health and Safety legislation
· Develop safe systems of work, method statements and risk assessments
· Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses
· Provide expert advise to Directors, Managers and Supervisors on all HSE matters
· Chair Group Health and Safety meetings and report performance to the senior leadership team
Lifting Operations and Product Certification
· Ensure sites comply with LOLER and PUWER regulations working in conjunction with Operations manager in conjunction with group facilities
· Develop inspection and examination regimes
· Ensure all equipment certification remains current and compliant
· Ensuring products comply with relevant standards including LOLER and PUWER
· Managing traceability and certification records of all safety equipment
Auditing and Management Systems
· Develop and maintain robust HSE management systems
· Conduct site audits, inspections and compliance reviews
· Drive corrective and preventative actions
· Support maintenance and continuous improvement of ISO 9001
Person Specification
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Health and Safety Manager Role
· Experience overseeing multiple sites
· Practical hands\-on approach, with strong organisational and project management skills
· Commercial awareness and business\-focused mindset
· Ability to work independently across multiple locations
Essential qualifications
· NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification)
· Full UK Driving Licence
Pay: £50,000\.00\-£55,000\.00 per year
