Greenspaces & Projects Officer (Parks & Events)
Rate: Negotiable (Inside IR35)
Location: Worcestershire
Working Pattern: Office-based with flexibility for agile working
Contract Length: 12 months initially, with potential for extension
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Greenspaces & Projects Officer to support the delivery of environmental improvement and community-focused projects across a large local authority.
This varied role will see you leading the delivery of capital projects within parks and open spaces, helping to create and enhance high-quality environments for residents and visitors while supporting wider community engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities • Lead the delivery of capital projects across parks and open spaces, including Section 106, parish-funded and externally funded schemes.
- Manage projects from feasibility and procurement through to completion and handover.
- Oversee contractor performance, project budgets, risks and programme delivery.
- Support the achievement and maintenance of Green Flag standards across parks and open spaces.
- Contribute to funding applications, business cases and service improvement initiatives.
- Support the planning and delivery of community events, play schemes and engagement activities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with elected members, residents and external stakeholders.
- Use consultation feedback and performance information to improve services and increase community participation.
- Experience within local government, the public sector, or a community-focused environment.
- Strong knowledge of project management, procurement, budget management and risk control.
- Experience managing contractors and external suppliers.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience working within a politically sensitive environment.
- Ability to build positive relationships with residents, elected members and partner organisations.
- Experience within parks, green spaces, leisure services or environmental services is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
