Accountabilities
- Review, localize, fact-check, translate, and adapt sports-related content, with a primary focus on football, while following established writing style guides and localization guidelines.
- Perform quality control on content translated from English (US) into Greek, ensuring linguistic accuracy, consistency, fluency, and cultural relevance.
- Adapt audiovisual and multimedia content so that terminology, tone, style, and messaging feel natural and engaging for Greek-speaking audiences.
- Conduct market-specific research into local content, football terminology, product language, audience preferences, and localization trends.
- Apply strong football subject-matter expertise to validate facts, references, terminology, and contextual details.
- Proofread and edit Greek-language content to ensure excellent grammar, readability, clarity, and consistency.
- Provide constructive and actionable feedback on written content to support continuous quality improvement.
- Adapt voice and style where appropriate to reflect football fan culture, contemporary audiences, and pop-culture trends.
- Manage assigned weekly workloads while maintaining high standards of quality and meeting project expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 2+ years of professional experience in linguistics, translation, sports journalism, copywriting, copy-editing, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of sports, particularly football, with a strong understanding of football terminology, competitions, players, teams, and fan culture.
- Experience translating and localizing multimedia or audiovisual content; familiarity with machine translation and linguistic evaluation is an advantage.
- Native-level fluency in Greek, with excellent grammar, writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Strong English-language comprehension to accurately understand and adapt source content from English (US).
- Excellent creative writing, proofreading, and editorial skills, with the ability to produce natural localized content rather than relying on literal translation.
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity to language choices, terminology, and content preferences relevant to Greek-speaking audiences.
- Tech-savvy, with strong practical knowledge of computers, mobile devices, word-processing applications, and spreadsheets.
- Access to a licensed version of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, reliability, and the ability to work independently.
- Preferred: Published sports-related work for platforms such as ESPN, The Athletic, FourFourTwo, or comparable publications.
- Preferred: Experience working with sports media platforms, live-score applications, sports streaming services, or similar digital products.
- Preferred: A strong ability to adapt tone and voice for Gen Z audiences, football communities, and contemporary pop-culture contexts.
