Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This entry\-level role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in system design, CAD modeling, and mechanical analysis while contributing to innovative projects: materials handling equipment / cranes in various industries. As a key member of our design team, you will collaborate closely with experienced engineers to bring concepts to life through detailed drawings, simulations, and prototypes. This position is ideal for recent graduates eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical environment that fosters growth and learning.
Duties
The main duties of this role (whilst receiving on the job training) will be to assist the engineering team with the following:
Production of design layouts and manufacturing drawings for the individual requirements of cranes and material handling applications
Production of calculations in line with recognised standards as required
Produce purchase specification and liaise with suppliers
Review and check 'in\-house' and 'outsourced' detail drawing work
Adhere to the design review process.
Deliver projects in line with customer requirements and business cost, quality and programme targets
Attend Customer sites when necessary
Attend training courses when necessary
Must be prepared to complete all necessary paperwork as instructed in order to gain the required security clearance to work at certain customer sites outside of the main base/location. Such paperwork must be completed within the time frame given and clearance must be attained as part of this role.
Any other duties as directed by line management which are within the Graduates’ capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred but will also consider level 4/5 qualification with some experience.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles, system design, and CAD software.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis on mechanical issues.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem\-solving.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and contribute effectively within a team environment.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK and be able to gain security clearance for customer sites as required.
