GP Receptionist
Job Overview
Stapenhill Medical Centre is currently looking for a receptionist to join our existing Patient Services Team. This is a part\-time position working approximately 20\-25 hours per week between 8am and 6:30pm. Applicants must be prepared to work overtime to cover holidays and absences, evening and occasional Saturdays will also be required. The successful applicant will work within a team alongside GPs, Nurses and Healthcare Professionals to deliver an excellent service to our patients. Good communication and organisational skills are essential. Candidates must be flexible, reliable, have the ability to multi\-task and work efficiently within a busy and pressurised environment. Previous experience would be highly advantageous, however, full training will be provided. The Practice uses SystmOne Clinical System.
Main duties of the job
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Adhere to strict confidentiality requirements, including those regarding computer information as under Data Protection legislation.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Overview of our organisation
We are a highly productive Practice always looking to provide excellent care and new services to our patients.
We currently have two full\-time Partners, assisted by three employed GP's, one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses and one Healthcare Assistant and two Clinical Pharmacists.
With a patient list currently in excess of 9,500 and growing, and with the development of new services, we are seeking to recruit to address our future needs.
We are a friendly well established Practice with high QOF scores and a Good CQC rating.
Job Description
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow\-up appointments.
Use of judgment to ensure that patients with no prior appointment who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non\-disruptive manner.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients.
Receive and make telephone calls as required.
Ensuring new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
Enter requests for home visits into the computer.
Action repeat prescription requests.
Advise patients of relevant charges for private work (non\-General Medical Services).
Retrieve and re\-file records as required.
Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed electronically promptly and in correct patient record.
Opening and closing premises.
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners, Practice Manager or Operations Manager.

Essential criteria
Computer literate, good communication skills, good telephone manner, able to prioritise work, keyboard and computer skills, ability to adapt to changing circumstances, previous receptionist experience, customer service, computer experience, general office procedures, customer care filing systems (paper \& electronic), works well in a team, works well under pressure, friendly, kind and caring.
Good general standard of education to include Maths \& English qualifications. Good communication skills.
Desirable criteria
Experience working in a GP Practice
Ability to touch type, hospital or other medical environment experience medical terminology, patient information systems.
Pay: £12\.75 per hour
