The role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and patient\-focused General Practice Assistant (GPA) to join our friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced healthcare professional who is looking to develop their skills within general practice and play an important role in supporting our GPs, Practice Nurses and wider clinical team.
About the role
The GPA will support the smooth and effective running of our GP clinics by undertaking a combination of routine clinical and administrative duties.
The role is designed to support our clinicians and improve the patient journey by ensuring that appropriate investigations, referrals, follow\-up, clinical administration and delegated patient\-care activities are completed safely and efficiently.
You will work closely with GPs, Practice Nurses and the wider Practice team and will be expected to work within your level of training and competence, seeking appropriate advice and supervision when required.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting GPs with clinical and administrative tasks.
- Sorting and prioritising clinical correspondence and identifying actions that require escalation.
- Coordinating appointments, investigations, referrals and follow\-up.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and entering information onto the clinical system.
- Supporting clinical recalls, registers and patient\-care programmes.
- Undertaking routine clinical observations and procedures within your competence.
- Phlebotomy and blood pressure monitoring.
- ECG recording and other physiological measurements.
- Urine testing, glucose tolerance testing and other point\-of\-care testing where trained.
- Supporting NHS Health Checks and diabetic clinic work\-up.
- Undertaking hearing tests and cardiac event monitoring where required and appropriately trained.
- Administering delegated injections, including B12, influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations, where appropriately trained and authorised.
- Supporting wound care and dressings where trained and delegated.
- Assisting with minor surgery and other clinical procedures.
- Providing chaperone support in accordance with Practice policy.
- Supporting health promotion and signposting patients to appropriate services.
- Maintaining clinical rooms, equipment, stock and infection\-control standards.
- Contributing to audit, quality improvement and service development.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working within a healthcare or clinical environment.
- Is confident communicating with patients, carers and colleagues.
- Demonstrates excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Is able to work independently while recognising when advice or supervision is required.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and information governance.
- Has a strong commitment to patient\-centred care.
- Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Is willing to learn and develop their clinical skills.
- Understands the importance of working within their scope of competence.
- Is proactive in identifying concerns and escalating appropriately.
- Has a positive attitude and contributes to a supportive team environment.

This is a part\-time, in\-person role, working 24–35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, across our Goring and Woodcote sites.
As this is a patient\-facing clinical role, remote working is not available.

Pay: From £16\.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24\.0 – 35\.0 per week
