General Manager – Vine, Bermondsey Street

Vine is an intimate wine shop on Bermondsey Street, SE1\. Vine is a neighbourhood favourite known for a serious, carefully curated wine list and the kind of genuine hospitality that keeps people coming back. Since opening, sales have grown week on week and we're proud of what we've built. Now we're looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead the venue and take it to the next level.

The role

This is a hands\-on leadership position at the heart of everything we do. Working closely with our Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for the day\-to\-day running of the shop, leading the team, and driving commercial performance.

The role involves periods of lone working outside of peak times. We have six tables outside and intimate seating inside, with full table service. Shifts run between 10:30am and 10:30pm, with a mix of morning, evening and some double shifts across a four of five day week.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead front of house to deliver consistently exceptional guest experiences

  • Drive recruitment, onboarding and development of the team

  • Oversee daily operations ensuring smooth, efficient service

  • Work closely with the Operations Team on strategy, standards and people management

  • Maintain high standards of compliance, health and safety, and stock management

  • Experience with STO, Square and/or Planday is a plus

What we're looking for
  • Proven management experience in a bar, restaurant or wine/spirits retail environment

  • WSET Level 2 minimum — a genuine passion for wine is non\-negotiable

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Flexibility to work five days a week including evenings and weekends

  • Right to work in the UK (required)

What we offer
  • £15\.00 per hour

  • Plus service charge (approximately £5\.00 per hour \- bringing total earnings to circa £20\.00/hr)
