General Manager – Historic Pub, Guest Accommodation \& Events Venue

The Ironmaster is a historic public house and guest accommodation located in the heart of Broseley, Shropshire, close to the world\-famous Ironbridge Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This early 18th\-century former coaching inn has traditionally operated as a pub, bed \& breakfast, and entertainment venue, serving both the local community and the thriving tourism market surrounding Ironbridge and the Shropshire countryside.

We are now seeking an experienced, passionate, and hands\-on General Manager to lead the next chapter of this unique hospitality venue.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our hospitality establishment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive restaurant and hospitality experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

This role involves managing teams, ensuring food safety standards, maintaining high guest satisfaction, and driving operational excellence across the pub, accommodation, and entertainment areas of the business.

The successful applicant will play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors while developing a positive and motivated team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all aspects of pub, restaurant, guest accommodation, and hospitality operations

  • Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management of staff

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health \& safety, and hygiene regulations

  • Manage food preparation and kitchen operations, ensuring quality and consistency

  • Deliver exceptional customer service standards across all areas of the business

  • Coordinate smooth day\-to\-day operations between bar, kitchen, accommodation, and events

  • Monitor financial performance including budgeting, stock control, and cost management

  • Develop operational procedures to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction

  • Support entertainment, social events, and community engagement activities

  • Handle customer feedback professionally and effectively

  • Maintain strong knowledge of current hospitality industry trends and best practices

Requirements
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a pub, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Experience in food preparation, kitchen operations, or hospitality service

  • Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast\-paced environment

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Customer\-focused approach with a positive and professional attitude

  • Experience with accommodation or guest house operations is advantageous

  • Personal licence holders and experience in wet\-led operations are desirable but not essential
