General Manager — The Chequers, Sevenoaks

Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per annum, dependent on experience

The Chequers in Sevenoaks is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead this recently renovated pub into its next chapter. Home to Marlowe's Burgers and a popular Sunday roast, The Chequers is more than a local, it's a live music venue and a destination food pub with real growth ahead, and we want someone who can help shape it.

About the role

You'll take full ownership of the day\-to\-day running of the pub. Front of house, bar, and kitchen, with real scope to put your own stamp on it. This is a hands on GM role for someone who wants more than just a job.

Key responsibilities include:

Running the floor and bar to a high standard, from wet sales and cellar management through to the overall guest experience. Overseeing the kitchen team delivering Marlowe's Burgers and our Sunday roast, with the opportunity to help drive further menu expansion as the offer grows. Planning and running events, from private hire to seasonal specials and to continue to build The Chequers as a destination in its own right. Managing and developing the team, recruitment, training, and rotas across front and back of house. Taking commercial ownership of the site, including P\&L responsibility, cost control, and stock management.

About you

We're looking for someone with solid pub or hospitality management experience, comfortable running both the wet trade and the kitchen operation. You'll be commercially minded, hands on, and genuinely excited about growing a site rather than just maintaining it. Someone who sees the menu expansion and events side as an opportunity.
