Maud \& Mabel is looking for a warm, confident and organised individual to join our small team as a Gallery Retail Assistant / Front of House from mid June.

This is primarily a customer service and retail\-focused role at the centre of our gallery and retail space. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and creating an exceptional customer experience, someone naturally welcoming, personable and confident engaging with visitors, collectors, trade clients and industry contacts.

The role plays an important role in the day\-to\-day running and atmosphere of the gallery. You will often be responsible for overseeing the space independently, acting as the main point of contact for visitors and ensuring the gallery operates smoothly, professionally and warmly throughout the day. While support from the wider team is always available and we are frequently in and around the gallery, we are looking for someone who is self\-motivated, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of the space when working independently.

As a small business, everyone contributes across all areas of the gallery, so we are looking for someone hands\-on, adaptable and happy to support wherever needed. Alongside customer service and sales, the role also includes administration, shipping logistics, artwork processing, website support and assisting with exhibitions and events.

CUSTOMER SERVICE \& FRONT OF HOUSE

\- Welcoming visitors and creating a warm, engaging and knowledgeable gallery experience

\- Acting as a key point of contact for clients across the gallery, online, via email and over the phone

\- Assisting with sales enquiries and purchases both in the gallery and at fairs or events

\- Building and maintaining strong relationships with collectors, interior designers, press and returning clients

\- Managing client, trade and industry enquiries in a professional and personable manner

\- Confidently overseeing the day\-to\-day running and presentation of the gallery space

SHIPPING, LOGISTICS \& ARTWORK HANDLING

\- Packing and shipping online orders with care and attention to detail

\- Coordinating domestic and international shipments, including courier bookings, tracking and customs documentation

\- Liaising with couriers including UPS and DHL and overseeing deliveries through to completion

\- Safely handling, unpacking, packing and moving fragile artworks and deliveries

\- Assisting with stock movement, gallery installs and exhibition changeovers.

GALLERY ADMINISTRATION \& OPERATIONS

\- Supporting the day\-to\-day running, presentation and organisation of the gallery and stockroom

\- Maintaining customer, client and industry databases and records

\- Carrying out regular inventory and stock checks across the gallery and online platforms

\- Managing gallery supplies including stationery, packaging and packing materials

\- Providing general administrative and diary support

\- Assisting with the organisation of commissions, consignments and artwork loans for press, stylists and interior designers

ARTWORK PROCESSING \& WEBSITE SUPPORT

\- Processing new stock and artworks on arrival, ensuring accurate intake records

\- Preparing delivery notes, cataloguing works and maintaining all associated documentation

\- Creating and updating product listings on Shopify and other online platforms

\- Supporting website maintenance and ensuring all product information remains accurate and up to date

\- Assisting with exhibition preparation, including artwork documentation, checklists and supporting materials

\- Supporting content creation for social media, newsletters and online launches

EVENTS \& GENERAL SUPPORT

\- Assisting with gallery events, private views, fairs, photoshoots and exhibitions

\- Supporting exhibition installs and de\-installs when required

\- Helping wherever needed as part of a collaborative small team environment

\- A genuine enjoyment of working with people and delivering excellent customer service

\- Warm, confident and professional manner

\- Trustworthy, dependable and comfortable working independently when required

\- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including handling in person, phone and email enquiries professionally

\- Previous experience in a customer\-facing retail or sales role

\- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

\- Experience with Shopify or similar ecommerce platforms

\- Experience arranging shipments and working with couriers and customs documentation

\- A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to support all areas of a small business

\- Comfortable lifting and moving boxes, unpacking deliveries and handling fragile items with care

\- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (confident with technology)

\- An interest in art, craft and design (knowledge of ceramics, glass, metalwork or woodwork is a plus)

\- Understanding of social media platforms and digital content support
