FP&A Manager

The FP\&A Manager \- Manufacturing will report to the FP\&A Finance Director and provide financial leadership, analysis and business partnering support to the UK manufacturing plant.

The role will work closely with the Plant Operations Lead, Value Stream Leads, Production Managers, Supply Chain Managers, manufacturing support functions, Depot Service Manager, commercial finance and site leadership to ensure manufacturing performance is clearly understood, accurately reported and actively improved.

This is a key business partnering role, supporting operating reviews, forecasting, budgeting, site scorecards, inventory control, product costing, backlog reporting and operational transformation activity.

Essential Job Functions

Manufacturing Performance and Business Partnering

• Partner with the Plant Operations Lead and Value Stream Leads to support operating reviews, performance discussions, forecasting and action planning.


• Work closely with Production Managers, Supply Chain Managers, manufacturing support functions and the Depot Service Manager to provide clear financial insight on manufacturing performance, cost drivers, inventory, backlog and operational risks.


• Support monthly actuals performance reviews, explaining key movements, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.


• Own and develop site scorecards, ensuring KPIs are accurate, relevant and used to support decision\-making.


• Support operational transformation projects through financial analysis, benefits tracking and performance reporting.


• Build strong relationships across operations and commercial teams to improve cost control, inventory discipline and manufacturing performance.

• Support the manufacturing forecasting and budgeting process, covering labour, overheads, materials, inventory, COGS and manufacturing variances.


• Work with operational leaders to understand key assumptions, including capacity, productivity, backlog, scrap, rework, efficiency and production constraints.


• Challenge forecast assumptions and ensure risks and opportunities are clearly identified.


• Support scenario analysis and business cases linked to site investment, productivity improvement, cost reduction and operational change.

• Accountable for month\-end inventory processes, including provisions, valuation, adjustments, write\-offs, returns write\-offs and valuation changes in accordance with UK and US GAAP.


• Ensure products are correctly costed and priced, supporting routing accuracy, BOM maintenance and item master governance.


• Review, simplify and maintain BOMs and standard costs.


• Lead inventory counts at each site as required during the year and liaise with auditors at year end.


• Strengthen inventory controls and support actions to reduce inventory write\-offs.

• Review and prepare analysis of COGS, operational variances, profit margin on shipped orders, inventory and manufacturing variances.


• Monitor backlog reporting to provide visibility of customer demand, production constraints, delayed shipments and financial impact.


• Review inventory adjustments, write\-offs, provisions, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and standard cost, BOM and routing changes.


• Provide clear commentary on manufacturing performance, including what changed, why it changed, financial impact and required actions.

• Manage and develop the Manufacturing Analyst, setting clear priorities and reviewing output for accuracy, insight and commercial relevance.


• Build capability within the team across manufacturing finance, costing, inventory and operational performance reporting.

• Undertake ad hoc analysis and projects relating to manufacturing performance, inventory, costing, backlog and operational transformation.


• Support continuous improvement of reporting, controls, processes and decision\-making across the manufacturing site.

• Qualified accountant or qualified by experience, with strong manufacturing finance experience.


• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, BOMs, routings, COGS and manufacturing variances.


• Experience supporting forecasting, budgeting and operational performance reviews.


• Strong business partnering skills, with the confidence to work closely with senior operations and site leadership.


• Experience managing or developing an analyst would be advantageous.


• Strong Excel and analytical skills; ERP experience preferred.


• Able to explain complex manufacturing finance topics clearly to non\-finance colleagues.


• Comfortable working in a changing operational environment, including transformation, process improvement and site performance improvement activity.

Physical Requirements
