Overview

TALO is building a new manufacturing operation in Wolverhampton, and we are looking for a highly capable Forklift Driver/Materials Operative to join our first factory team.

This is a hands\-on materials role, but it offers more than simply moving stock from one place to another. As one of our first recruits, you will help establish the standards, working culture and ways of working that future employees will follow.

You will play an important part in keeping materials, components and finished products moving safely and efficiently through the factory, ensuring production teams have what they need, when they need it. As your understanding of the production process develops, you will be expected to look ahead, anticipate material requirements, prioritise movements and help prevent avoidable delays or disruption.

The role requires a careful, organised and safety\-focused approach. You will be responsible for protecting material and product quality during handling, carrying out routine forklift checks, communicating shortages or material\-flow issues early, and contributing to an efficient and well\-organised internal logistics operation.

As part of our first factory team, you will have the opportunity to help shape how material flow, internal logistics and line supply are managed as the manufacturing operation develops.

As part of your initial structured training, you must be willing and able to travel to Finland for approximately 3–4 weeks at the start of your employment.

Essential Skills

• Experienced and safe forklift operator, with appropriate certification where required for the equipment being used


• Good situational awareness and the ability to operate carefully in a busy manufacturing environment


• Accurate and organised approach to handling, locating and moving materials and components


• Understanding of the importance of protecting material and product condition during handling and movement


• Ability to prioritise work, think ahead and respond appropriately as production requirements change


• Willingness to learn the production process and understand how material flow affects manufacturing output

Desirable Skills

• Experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing, engineering, logistics or industrial production environment


• Experience handling large, fragile or high\-value materials and components where careful movement is critical


• Experience supporting production through internal logistics, line supply or materials handling


• Experience working within organised warehouse, stock\-control or material\-flow systems


• Experience handling timber, boards, windows, construction components or similar materials

Working Hours

The role is based on 40 hours per week, with the normal shift operating from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Depending on production requirements, weekly hours may occasionally need to increase to meet production requirements.

Initially, production will operate on one shift. As production volumes increase this may change.
