Financial Planner
An independent firm of insurance brokers and financial planners based in East London. Our roots go back to 1890, and today we still advise the great-grandchildren of some of our original clients. We are directly authorised by the FCA (Firm Reference 121398), with the freedom to recommend the whole market and a long-held commitment to genuinely independent, jargon-free advice, given in our clients' best interest and nobody else's. Our wealth & financial planning team is growing, and we want a senior adviser to grow with it.
The opportunity
This is a growth hire, not a backfill. We're adding a second senior adviser / Client Director to take on a bank of our more complex, higher-value client relationships and to be one of the senior faces we put in front of new clients. You'll have real autonomy, a genuine say in how the firm grows, and an established team around you. We're a deliberately collaborative firm — somewhere advisers work together and share the load, rather than clock in and out. For the right person there's a long-term home here, and we've structured ownership and succession deals before for advisers who want one.
What you'll do
- Look after an established bank of high-value clients — many of them successful, commercially astute business owners — with the credibility to hold your own.
- Deliver holistic, independent financial planning across retirement, pensions, investments, tax and estate/IHT planning, and protection.
- Advise with the freedom of true independence — whole-of-market choice through a flexible centralised investment proposition (currently Quilter, Transact and Timeline; model portfolios, DFMs and bespoke as the client needs).
- Proactively spot and win new business through professional connections, networking and referrals.
- Lean on strong support — administrators book your reviews and prepare meetings, and a paraplanner writes your suitability reports.
- An experienced adviser with genuine gravitas — comfortable with demanding clients who will challenge and probe.
- A proven, proactive approach to new business — you're happy to network, speak and get out there (you don't need to be a full-time hunter).
- Diploma-qualified (Level 4) as a minimum, with strong technical knowledge across complex planning.
- Within commutable reach of our East London office, able to be in around three days a week.
- Entrepreneurial and independent-minded — you want autonomy, a say, and a long-term home rather than the biggest cheque.
- Base salary c.£75,000–£100,000+, depending on experience.
- Performance bonus: 25% of qualifying revenue above 3x salary, rising to 35% above 4x (initial fees and recurring income count, net of pay-aways).
- For the right person, a reduced validation threshold in year one while you build the book.
- Structured ownership / succession deals available for advisers who bring or build a book.
- Full admin and paraplanning support, a collaborative independent firm, and long-term progression.
