Financial Controller

Reed Finance are delighted to be supporting a private equity-backed business in Brighton in the search for an ambitious Financial Controller.

This is a pivotal appointment for the organisation as it continues its next phase of growth.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director and working closely with the senior leadership team, you'll play a key role in shaping financial strategy, strengthening controls, improving reporting capabilities, and providing the insight needed to support commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day finance function and develop a high-performing finance team.


• Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts and board reporting.


• Own budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management processes.


• Provide meaningful analysis and insight to support business performance.


• Partner with senior stakeholders across operations, sales and leadership teams.


• Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and scalability.


• Strengthen financial controls, governance and reporting frameworks.


• Lead the year-end audit process and statutory reporting requirements.


• Support strategic projects including acquisitions, integrations and systems improvements.


• Play an active role in delivering the business's growth and value creation objectives.

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.


• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or Finance Manager.


• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.


• Experience operating within a fast-paced, growing commercial environment.


• Exposure to private equity-backed, investor-backed or acquisitive businesses would be advantageous.


• Commercially minded with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders.


• Naturally proactive with a continuous improvement mindset.


• Strong leadership skills and experience developing finance teams.

• Salary of £75,000 - £85,000.
