Financial Controller (Part\-Time), join a growing Scottish renewables team

AJ Renewables helps homes and businesses across Scotland switch to solar PV, battery storage and EV charging. As we grow, we're looking for our first dedicated finance person to take the lead on our day\-to\-day finances.

This is a hands\-on, part\-time role with plenty of ownership. You'll look after finance from end to end, working closely with our Co\-Founders and our external accountant. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys being trusted to run things their own way, in a supportive team that values the work you do.

What you'll be doing

• Looking after sales and purchase invoicing in Xero (a deposit and final invoice for each job)


• Keeping on top of credit control and outstanding customer balances


• Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns


• Managing CIS and running weekly payroll, including commissions and subcontractor payments


• Working alongside our external accountants on month\-end management accounts and year\-end statutory accounts and tax

What we're looking for

• Experience looking after the finances of a small or growing business (as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior bookkeeper)


• Qualified by experience or part\-qualified (AAT, ACCA or CIMA). We care more about the right skills and attitude than letters after a name


• Confident, hands\-on Xero skills


• Comfortable with VAT returns and credit control


• Happy running weekly payroll


• Organised, accurate, discreet, and able to work happily on your own initiative

Experience in construction, trades or installation (and with CIS) would be lovely to have, but it's not essential.

What we offer

• £30,000 to £40,000 a year full\-time equivalent, pro rata for part\-time hours (around 3 days per week)


• Roughly 20 to 24 hours a week, arranged to suit you, with a little more around month\-end and quarter\-end
