Financial Controller

The Opportunity
We are seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function. As the number one in finance, you will play a key role in supporting the Managing Director and leadership team, providing financial insight, strengthening controls, and helping to drive continued growth.
This is a hands\-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in an SME environment and wants to have real influence over business performance and direction.
Key Responsibilities
\- Full ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
\- Liaising with and advising company secretary to ensure compliance with accounting and other regulatory requirements.
\- Production of monthly management accounts with clear, value\-added commentary
\- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
\- Partner with the MD and operational teams to support commercial decision\-making
\- Monitor project and contract performance, margins, and cost control
\- Develop and enhance financial controls, systems, and processes
\- Financial oversight of foreign subsidiaries
\- Oversee stock, WIP, and costing within a manufacturing environment
\- Manage year\-end process, statutory accounts, and external audit
\- Liaise with external advisors including auditors, tax specialists, and banks
\- Oversee and develop 1 member of the finance team
Skills \& Experience
\- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
\- Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Finance Manager role
\- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or project\-based environments preferred
\- Strong understanding of stock, WIP, and project accounting
\- Experience working in an SME environment
\- Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence non\-financial stakeholders
\- Experience in multi\-currency reporting, foreign exchange and intercompany accounting
\- Comfortable operating both strategically and hands\-on

What We Offer
\- Basic salary of £65,000 \- £75,000 dependent on experience
