Financial Accounts Manager
About the Company
We are an established UK transport company providing road freight, courier, delivery and transportation services to commercial customers.
As the business continues to grow its transport operations and vehicle fleet, we are seeking an experienced Financial Accounts Manager to take responsibility for the management and oversight of the company's financial accounts function.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, transport operations, fleet management, customers, suppliers and external professional advisers.
The Role
The Financial Accounts Manager will manage the company's financial accounts and related financial\-control activities.
The role will include financial account management, customer and supplier accounts, credit control, financial reporting, budgeting, cash\-flow monitoring, financial analysis and oversight of accounting processes.
Because the business operates within the transport and logistics sector, the role will also involve analysing transport revenue and operating expenditure, including fleet, fuel, maintenance, insurance and supplier costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the company's financial accounts and accounting processes.
- Oversee customer and supplier accounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Manage credit\-control activities and outstanding customer balances.
- Review customer invoices and financial transactions.
- Monitor supplier liabilities and payment obligations.
- Prepare and review financial reports and management information.
- Assist with monthly management accounts.
- Monitor budgets, expenditure and financial performance.
- Prepare and monitor cash\-flow forecasts.
- Analyse transport revenue and operating costs.
- Monitor fleet\-related financial expenditure.
- Review fuel, maintenance, insurance and vehicle operating costs.
- Investigate financial discrepancies and unusual transactions.
- Maintain effective financial controls.
- Assist with VAT and financial compliance.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks and professional advisers.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior management.
- Assist with financial planning and business decisions.
- Previous experience in financial accounts or financial management.
- Experience managing customer and supplier accounts.
- Experience with financial reporting and account reconciliation.
- Experience in credit control and cash\-flow management.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles.
- Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to analyse financial information and identify discrepancies.
- Experience analysing fuel, vehicle maintenance and insurance costs.
- Experience with UK VAT.
- Experience with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho Books or similar accounting systems.
- AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent accounting/finance qualification.
- Competitive salary between £34,500 – £36,000
