Financial Accounts Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an organised and commercially aware Financial Accounts Manager to support and manage

financial accounting activities within a growing logistics, road freight, transportation and vehicle services business.

The role focuses on accurate financial records, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting and financial control.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate day\-to\-day financial and accounting records and general ledgers.


• Manage accounts payable and receivable and prepare, review and issue customer invoices.


• Review supplier invoices and authorised payments and undertake bank, supplier, customer and ledger

reconciliations.

• Investigate accounting discrepancies and implement appropriate corrective action.


• Monitor income, expenditure, working capital and cash\-flow requirements.


• Prepare periodic financial and management reports for senior management.


• Assist with monthly, quarterly and year\-end accounting procedures.


• Support budgets and financial forecasts and report significant variances.


• Maintain financial records for vehicles, fuel, maintenance, insurance, leasing and operational expenditure.


• Analyse transportation and fleet expenditure to support cost control.


• Maintain records for vehicle purchases, rentals, leases, fixed assets and payroll\-related reconciliations where

required.

• Maintain accounting records relating to VAT, PAYE and relevant financial obligations.


• Prepare schedules for external accountants and support year\-end and statutory financial information.


• Monitor payment trends, customer credit risks and the financial implications of commercial contracts.


• Support improvements to accounting systems, controls and financial reporting procedures.

Eligibility and Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, Economics, Business

Administration or a related discipline; or a relevant accounting/finance qualification with demonstrable financial

accounting experience. AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent would be advantageous.

Essential Experience

• Relevant experience in financial accounting, accounts management, bookkeeping or a related finance function.


• Experience maintaining accounting records, accounts payable/receivable and reconciliations.


• Ability to prepare financial reports and analyse accounting information.


• Understanding of budgeting, cash\-flow monitoring and expenditure control.


• Strong numerical, analytical, spreadsheet and accounting\-software skills.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in logistics, freight, haulage, transportation, fleet management or vehicle rental.


• Experience monitoring vehicle and fleet\-related costs and operational expenditure.


• Experience with Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or comparable software and UK VAT/accounting requirements.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management, operational teams and external stakeholders.

• Maintain complete and accurate financial records and timely customer/supplier account management.


• Ensure accurate invoicing, cash\-flow and expenditure monitoring.


• Improve financial reporting, fleet\-cost control, budgeting and forecasting.


• Maintain effective internal controls and efficient month\-end/year\-end processes.

Pay: £25,420\.00\-£34,800\.00 per year
