Location: Hybrid – White City (2-3 days in the office)

About the role:

Do you have experience in supporting the production of annual financial statements?

We are looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to join the University’s Financial Accounting team from May 2026 on a 6 month contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in being responsible for the preparation of the annual financial statements and the annual financial return to the Office of Students. The successful candidate will work closely with our auditors. The Financial Accounting team responsible for capturing, organising, and reporting the university’s financial activity.

What you would be doing:

• Support the overall delivery of Imperial’s financial audit, monitoring audit requests across Imperial and working with colleagues to ensure that these are addressed within the required timeframes.


• Work with our auditors to resolve any issues through regular meetings, respond to any impromptu questions and provide information and analysis where appropriate.


• Preparation and management of key notes to the Annual Financial Statements, including preparing supporting schedules and managing any related audit questions.


• Work with colleagues to gather data and evidence as required to support narrative descriptions in the financial statements.


• Work closely with colleagues to prepare the annual financial return to the Office for Students.


• Support the implementation of changes to FRS 102 and the Higher Education SORP in relation to leases and revenue through contract review and other analysis to inform decision-making. Work with colleagues to gather data and information where required to support this.


• Support the Financial Accounting team to deliver ad hoc projects and analysis as necessary including the new ERP implementation.

What we are looking for:

• A qualified or part-qualified accountant


• Hold experience in financial accounting including the preparation of financial statements


• Possess experience with working with external auditors


• Knowledge of FRS 102 accounting standards and Higher Education SORP


• Possess a strong attention to details


• Demonstrates strong time management skills

This role will be instrumental in supporting the organisation during a season of significant change.
