Building Maintenance & Works Project Manager

Fixed-term contract – 4 months, renewable

Full-time, site-based

Role Purpose

An educational organisation is undertaking a significant refurbishment of part of its campus. We are seeking an experienced, organised, and practical professional to act as the on-site representative during the works.

The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day activity on site, liaise with contractors and consultants, and provide regular progress updates to senior management, ensuring the project is delivered safely, to the required quality, and with minimal disruption to operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the client’s on-site point of contact throughout the refurbishment project.


• Monitor daily progress against agreed programmes and specifications.


• Liaise closely with contractors, subcontractors, and professional consultants.


• Ensure compliance with health & safety and safeguarding requirements.


• Attend and contribute to site meetings and carry out regular inspections.


• Identify risks, issues, delays, or quality concerns and escalate appropriately.


• Provide clear written and verbal progress reports to senior management.


• Support snagging, handover, and completion activities.

Essential

• Proven experience supervising construction or refurbishment projects on site.


• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.


• Good working knowledge of health & safety requirements.


• Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgement.


• Experience working in a live or sensitive environment (e.g. education, healthcare, public sector).

• Background in project management, clerk of works, or site supervision.


• Relevant construction or building qualification.


• French language skills.
