FINANCE OFFICER
LBC is a developing Further and Higher Education institution committed to providing high\-quality education, supporting students from diverse backgrounds and maintaining strong standards of academic and institutional management.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, capable and highly organised Finance Officer to support the effective financial management of the College.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and will have an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls and sound financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Officer will be responsible for, or contribute to:
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and financial systems;
- Preparing monthly management accounts;
- Budget preparation, monitoring and variance analysis;
- Preparing and monitoring cash\-flow forecasts;
- Bank and balance\-sheet reconciliations;
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable;
- Monitoring student fee income and outstanding balances;
- Supporting payroll administration and reconciliation;
- Maintaining purchase, payment and authorisation controls;
- Preparing financial information for senior management and the Governing Board;
- Supporting annual statutory accounts and external audit;
- Liaising with auditors, accountants and other professional advisers where required;
- Assisting with financial forecasts and longer\-term financial planning;
- Monitoring key financial indicators and identifying emerging financial risks;
- Supporting regulatory and statutory financial reporting;
- Maintaining appropriate financial records and audit trails; and
- Helping ensure that the College's financial policies, procedures and internal controls are consistently applied.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Relevant experience in accounting or financial management;
- An appropriate accounting qualification, part\-qualification or substantial relevant experience;
- Sound knowledge of management accounts, budgeting and financial controls;
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills;
- Excellent numerical and analytical ability;
- High standards of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately; and
- A professional, responsible and proactive approach.
