Silver Lining Fostering is an Outstanding independent fostering agency dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people through high\-quality foster care. We support over 80 fostering households across London, the South East and the West Midlands and work closely with local authorities to provide stable, nurturing homes for children.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance function and support the continued growth of the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a values\-led organisation where their contribution has a direct impact on children and families.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be responsible for the day\-to\-day financial management of the agency and will act as the lead finance professional within the organisation.

You will oversee all aspects of financial operations including payroll, pensions, foster carer payments, supplier payments, invoicing, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing payroll and NEST pension administration

  • Processing foster carer payments and allowances

  • Managing supplier, consultant and staff payments

  • Raising invoices to local authorities and monitoring income

  • Credit control and debtor management

  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports

  • Monitoring cash flow and undertaking bank reconciliations

  • Supporting annual budgets and financial forecasting

  • Supporting fee uplift submissions and financial modelling

  • Reviewing foster carer allowances and placement fee structures

  • Supporting year\-end accounts and audit processes

  • Managing and developing financial systems, including Sage
About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

Essential

  • Previous experience working within an Independent Fostering Agency (IFA)

  • Experience in a Finance Manager, Finance Officer, Management Accountant or similar finance role

  • Experience of payroll administration and workplace pensions, including NEST or similar schemes

  • Experience preparing management accounts

  • Strong bookkeeping, reconciliation and financial reporting experience

  • Experience of local authority invoicing and placement income management

  • Excellent Excel skills

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Desirable
  • MSc in Accounting and Finance or similar qualification

  • ACCA, CIMA, ACA, AAT or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards)

  • Experience using Sage accounting systems

  • Experience supporting fee uplift submissions and financial forecasting

  • Experience supporting audits and year\-end processes
