Finance Manager / Management Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager / Management Accountant to manage the financial accounts for two related SME businesses.

This is a hands\-on role for someone who can take ownership of the finance function, manage an existing bookkeeper and help improve financial visibility across both companies. The software to be used will be Odoo.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day\-to\-day finance operations, improving reporting and making sure the financial information in the system is accurate, useful and up to date.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the financial accounts for both companies


• Oversee and support the existing bookkeeper


• Own and maintain the finance function within Odoo


• Manage bank reconciliations, supplier accounts and customer accounts


• Oversee purchase ledger and sales ledger accuracy


• Support VAT preparation and ensure VAT records are accurate


• Produce monthly management accounts for both companies


• Report on sales, gross profit, margins, overheads, net profit and cash position


• Monitor aged debtors and support credit control


• Monitor aged creditors and support supplier payment planning


• Manage intercompany transactions between the businesses


• Support stock, cost of sales and margin reporting


• Create useful weekly and monthly reports for the directors


• Improve financial processes, controls and reporting routines


• Help ensure Odoo is being used accurately and consistently

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and confident working in an SME environment.

You should be comfortable moving between day\-to\-day accounting detail and director\-level reporting. This is not just a transaction processing role. We are looking for someone who can help the businesses understand their numbers, improve financial control and create better visibility over performance.

Skills and experience required

• Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge


• Experience producing management accounts


• Good understanding of VAT


• Good Excel skills


• Experience using accounting or ERP systems


• Ability to manage and support a bookkeeper


• Strong attention to detail


• Understanding of stock, gross margin and cost of sales would be useful


• Comfortable working across two related companies


• Able to improve systems, processes and reporting


• Odoo experience would be beneficial but is not essential

The ideal person will have experience working in an SME and will be confident taking ownership of the finance function. You may have worked as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Company Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper with management accounts experience.

You will need to be hands\-on, reliable and able to create structure in a growing business environment.
