Finance Consultant
About Antares Base
Antares Base is a UK\-based business consultancy supporting companies with international growth, commercial development and cross\-border opportunities, with a particular focus on business between the UK and China.
We work with businesses across a range of sectors, supporting market development, strategic partnerships, commercial projects and international expansion. As our client and project portfolio develops, we are looking for an experienced Finance Consultant to strengthen the financial and commercial analysis behind our consulting work.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Consultant with a strong background in corporate finance, accounting, audit, internal controls and financial risk management.
The role will support Antares Base's management and consulting projects, particularly where clients or commercial partners have operations, investments, suppliers or business interests across the UK and China.
This is a commercially focused finance role rather than a purely transactional accounting position. The successful candidate will use financial information to help assess businesses, identify risks, improve financial controls and support management and clients in making informed commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial analysis and advisory support for Antares Base's consulting and cross\-border business projects.
- Review company financial information, management accounts, budgets, cash flow and financial performance to support commercial decision\-making.
- Conduct financial and commercial due diligence on potential clients, partners, suppliers and business opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and project financial planning.
- Review and help strengthen internal financial controls, accounting procedures and risk\-management processes.
- Identify financial, operational and compliance risks associated with new projects and international business activities.
- Prepare financial reports, management summaries and recommendations for senior management and clients.
- Support UK–China projects by reviewing and interpreting financial and business information from Chinese companies and counterparties.
- Liaise with clients, accountants, auditors and other professional advisers where required.
- Support the financial assessment of new partnerships, investment opportunities and commercial proposals.
- Contribute to the development of Antares Base's finance, risk and commercial advisory services as the business grows.
We are looking for someone with:
- Significant professional experience in accounting, corporate finance, audit, internal control or financial risk management.
- A recognised professional accounting or audit qualification; CICPA, CIA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent international qualification would be an advantage.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, audit, risk assessment and internal controls.
- Ability to analyse financial information and translate it into practical commercial recommendations.
- Experience working with Chinese businesses or within the Chinese corporate environment would be highly desirable.
- A good understanding of UK–China business practices and the ability to work effectively across different commercial cultures would be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication and report\-writing skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English; Mandarin Chinese would be highly advantageous given Antares Base's China\-related business activities.
- Ability to work independently across multiple client and internal projects.
This role provides an opportunity to combine professional finance expertise with international business and commercial consulting. Rather than focusing solely on routine accounting, the Finance Consultant will work across different businesses and projects, helping Antares Base and its clients understand financial performance, manage risk and make better\-informed commercial decisions.
For a candidate with substantial experience in the Chinese financial and corporate environment, the role also provides an opportunity to apply that expertise directly to growing UK–China business activities.
Pay: Up to £48,000\.00 per year
