Finance \& Administration Manager
Salary: £37,500–£41,500 per annum, depending on experience
Full\-time \| Permanent \| Monday–Friday
South Birmingham / Worcestershire, plus one flexible day per week in Westbury\-on\-Severn
We are looking for an experienced Finance \& Administration Manager to take ownership of the day\-to\-day finance function across a small group of residential care services operated through two associated companies.
This is a newly created role, working directly with the Directors and Registered Managers. It combines hands\-on accounting with management reporting, cost and revenue analysis, payroll support and care\-package funding.
We use Xero across all our businesses, so good practical Xero experience is essential. Our residential care businesses are not VAT registered.
The role is predominantly based across our South Birmingham/Worcestershire services, with one flexible day per week in Westbury\-on\-Severn, Gloucestershire.
Key responsibilities
- Managing day\-to\-day accounts across two companies using Xero
- Purchase/sales ledger, invoicing, payment runs and bank reconciliations
- Producing monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Budgeting, cash\-flow and cost/variance analysis
- Assisting with payroll preparation, checking and submissions
- Analysing payroll, staffing, overtime and agency costs
- Monitoring debtors and reconciling income received
- Identifying cost trends and opportunities for savings across the businesses
- Analysing revenue and profitability by service and care package
- Reconciling Local Authority and NHS funding against agreed packages and investigating discrepancies or underpayments
- Supporting funding reviews and changes to commissioned packages
- Preparing care\-package costings for new and existing placements, including staffing, employment costs, overheads and margin
- Liaising with external accountants and supporting year\-end requirements
- Supporting wider financial and business administration as required
We are looking for someone with strong practical accounts experience who is comfortable taking ownership rather than simply processing transactions.
You will need good Xero and Excel skills and experience of management accounts, reconciliations and financial analysis.
AAT Level 4, part\-qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent experience is desirable, although we equally welcome candidates who are qualified by experience.
Experience in healthcare, social care, Local Authority/NHS funding or a multi\-site business would be advantageous but is not essential.
You should be organised, commercially aware and inquisitive, with the confidence to investigate when a cost, payment or funding figure doesn't look right.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.
