Family Support Worker (Part Time/ BANK)
Make a real difference in the lives of children and families \- join our Outstanding team at Orchard House.
Develop your skills through excellent training, supervision and hands\-on experience.
Join a friendly, supportive multi\-disciplinary team who are passionate about safeguarding and improving outcomes for children.
Orchard House is an *Ofsted\-rated Outstanding* (2025 and 2026\) family assessment centre in Taunton providing families with evidence\-based residential parenting assessments and in\-depth support and interventions.
We are a safeguarding\-first organisation, and we are looking for permanent and bank Family Support Workers to join our committed multi\-disciplinary team.
You will be joining a team that values collaboration, compassion, and continuous learning. We support each other so we can support families effectively.
What You Will Do:
- Support families facing complex challenges at a critical time in their lives within a residential assessment centre.
- Help parents develop essential parenting skills through modelling, teaching, and encouragement.
- Safeguard and care for babies and young children.
- Provide sensitive feedback and make observations (in person and via CCTV).
- Record accurate, objective written information to inform assessments.
- Individuals committed to safeguarding and child protection.
- Strong communicators who can engage sensitively with children and adults.
- Team players who can build trust with families who may be reluctant to accept support, whilst maintaining strong professional boundaries.
- Ideally hold a relevant qualification – or be willing to work towards one (we’ll fund a Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce course if needed).
We are recruiting for permanent part time positions and bank staff. We are currently looking for staff who are able to work waking night shifts and weekend shifts, alongside other shifts on our four\-shift 24\-hour rota.
Waking night shifts would be worked alongside daytime shifts, particularly during the induction and probation period, to ensure a full understanding of the service, families, and assessment processes. The two\-week induction period will therefore include a higher proportion of daytime shifts.
Shifts available include:
- Morning: 07:30–14:30
- Afternoon: 14:00–21:00
- Full Day: 10:00–21:00
- Night: 20:30–08:00
- Excellent induction, training and supervision
- Peer support and a supportive collaborative working environment
- Opportunities to grow and develop your skills
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
