We are seeking an exceptional Factory \& Logistics Manager who will lead this transformation
Key responsibilities
We are looking for a hands\-on operational leader who can create structure, improve standards, build capability and drive a culture of accountability throughout our production and warehouse operations.
The successful candidate will lead manufacturing, logistics, inventory control, health and safety, productivity improvement and continuous improvement initiatives. They will be instrumental in developing a modern manufacturing environment built on safety, efficiency, quality and performance.
A key responsibility will be leading a significant cultural shift across the factory, embedding professional standards, operational discipline and continuous improvement while preserving the positive family culture and personal relationships that make PSCM unique. You'll need to:
Health, Safety \& Culture Leadership
- Champion a safety\-first culture throughout the business.
- Lead all day\-to\-day factory operations to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Develop and manage production plans aligned with customer demand and business priorities.
- Ensure labour, materials and equipment are scheduled effectively.
- Monitor production performance against agreed KPIs.
- Identify capacity constraints and implement solutions to improve throughput.
- Introduce production planning disciplines and improve workflow management.
- Ensure products are manufactured to specification and delivered on time.
- Establish and embed lean manufacturing principles.
- Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency and workflow design.
- Implement performance management systems and operational KPIs.
- Analyse production data to identify trends, inefficiencies and opportunities.
- Lead improvement projects focused on:
- Waste reduction
- Process optimisation
- Labour utilisation
- Material flow
- Quality improvement
- Cost reduction
- Develop standard operating procedures and best practice working methods.
- Oversee all warehouse operations including goods receipt, storage, stock control and dispatch.
- Improve warehouse layout and material flow.
- Ensure stock accuracy through effective inventory control processes.
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics activities.
- Coordinate transport and delivery requirements.
- Develop systems that support Just\-In\-Time (JIT) manufacturing principles.
- Minimise inventory holding whilst maintaining production continuity.
- Improve product traceability and inventory management processes.
- Work closely with purchasing and suppliers to ensure material availability.
- Implement demand planning and inventory management strategies.
- Develop accurate stock reporting and replenishment processes.
- Reduce excess inventory and obsolete stock.
- Support supplier performance monitoring and improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with company and customer quality standards.
- Develop a culture of right\-first\-time manufacturing.
- Investigate root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and trends.
- Support continuous improvement in product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Lead, motivate and develop production and warehouse teams.
- Establish clear expectations, objectives and performance standards.
- Develop frontline leadership capability within supervisors and team leaders.
- Conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Foster a positive and accountable working culture.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding and workforce development activities.
- Encourage collaboration across departments.
- Develop meaningful operational KPIs covering:
- Safety
- Quality
- Delivery
- Productivity
- Efficiency
- Inventory
- Cost
- Create performance dashboards and management reports.
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly operational reviews.
- Provide recommendations and action plans based on operational data.
- Oversee maintenance planning and equipment reliability.
- Implement preventative maintenance programmes.
- Ensure facilities remain safe, organised and fit for purpose.
- Support future investment in machinery, technology and automation.
- Drive through health and safety systems, procedures and training programmes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments and workplace inspections.
- Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe practices and implement corrective actions.
- Drive behavioural change and employee engagement in health and safety activities.
- Drive through clear standards of housekeeping, workplace organisation and visual management.
- Promote a culture of personal responsibility, professionalism and continuous improvement.
Essential
- Proven experience managing manufacturing and warehouse/logistics operations.
- Experience introducing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen or Continuous Improvement programmes.
- Experience implementing JIT manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of ERP, MRP or production planning systems.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
- Manufacturing background within engineering, fabrication, industrial products or related sectors.
- Strong production planning and scheduling experience.
- Demonstrable success driving cultural and operational change.
- Health and safety leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and warehouse operations.
- Experience with KPI development and performance management.
- Excellent leadership and people\-development abilities.
- Strong problem\-solving and analytical skills.
Pay: £35,000\.00\-£45,000\.00 per year
