Facilities Engineer - Slough
Job Overview
We are looking for a practical and hands\-on Facilities Engineer to join our team in Langley. This role is ideal for someone with experience in facilities maintenance, property maintenance, building services, or general engineering who enjoys being hands\-on and solving day\-to\-day maintenance issues.
You will be responsible for helping keep our premises, facilities, fixtures, and essential equipment safe, functional, and well maintained. The role will involve a combination of planned maintenance, reactive repairs, basic electrical and mechanical work, building upkeep, and general handyman responsibilities.
You may also be required to travel to our dental practices and other UK locations when needed.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across buildings, facilities, fixtures, and equipment.
- Carry out general maintenance and handyman tasks, including repairs to doors, locks, handles, fixtures, fittings, furniture, shelving, and other building elements.
- Identify and resolve day\-to\-day maintenance issues within offices and dental practices.
- Carry out basic electrical maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs where appropriately qualified.
- Assist with basic plumbing, water supply, drainage, and general building maintenance.
- Carry out repairs, adjustments, and replacements of fixtures, fittings, and general facilities equipment.
- Investigate faults and breakdowns and arrange appropriate repairs or escalation where specialist support is required.
- Support the installation, relocation, replacement, and commissioning of facilities and equipment.
- Assist with setting up new rooms, workspaces, and practice facilities.
- Carry out routine checks to identify potential problems before they become major issues.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and external service providers when specialist work is required.
- Monitor maintenance requirements and ensure issues are followed through to completion.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, repairs, and servicing.
- Support the team with basic technical troubleshooting and facilities\-related issues.
- Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements.
- Assist with emergency and reactive maintenance when required.
- Travel to different UK locations and dental practices as required.
- Maintain a professional, reliable, and customer\-focused approach when working across different sites.
- Carry out other reasonable facilities and maintenance duties required to support the smooth running of the business.
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance, property maintenance, building maintenance, maintenance engineering, or a similar hands\-on role.
- Strong practical and problem\-solving skills.
- Good understanding of general building maintenance and repairs.
- Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge.
- Experience carrying out handyman\-type maintenance tasks.
- Ability to diagnose problems and identify practical solutions.
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple maintenance requests.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with practice, operations, and office teams.
- Good IT skills for maintaining service records, communicating with teams, and managing maintenance requests.
- Proficiency in English for effective communication and documentation.
- Valid UK or international driving licence and willingness to travel to different sites when required.
- Relevant technical, engineering, facilities, or maintenance qualifications are desirable but not essential where strong practical experience can be demonstrated.
Pay: £28,700\.00\-£33,000\.00 per year
