Facilities Electrical Engineer

Dayshift Role, 40 hours per week

West Fraser is a diversified wood products company with more than 60 facilities in Canada, the United States and Europe. From responsibly sourced and sustainably managed forest resources, the company produces lumber, engineered wood (OSB, LVL, MDF, plywood, particleboard), and other products including pulp, newsprint, wood chips and renewable energy.

Our UK\-manufactured products are used extensively in the construction, DIY and furniture sectors. Our brands, SterlingOSB Zero, CaberFloor and CaberWood MDF, are well known in the construction industry and are commonly specified by architects, national housebuilders and specifiers.

We are proud that as a certified net carbon negative company we lock up more carbon in our products than we emit making them, helping the UK construction sector comply with net zero targets and beyond.

The successful applicant will:

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair faults on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, control panels and fire protection systems.

  • Assist in the installation of new electrical equipment and systems.

  • Adhere to all relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g. BS 7671, HSE guidelines, West Fraser company policies and procedures)

  • Participate in risk assessments and contribute to safe work practices.

  • Participate in the Company on call rota

  • Utilise safely and train site apprentices to a high level of competency.

  • Work independently and as part of a team.

  • Improving maintenance and operational efficiencies through the application of Preventative and Emerging Work Management as required by the business CMMS systems

  • Carry out and monitor work execution in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Adhere to the plan of PMs to ensure reliability of equipment and PM compliance, ensuring safe working practises are always adhered to
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Industrial/Commercial (preferred) or domestic electrical experience

  • Completed a four\-year recognised apprenticeship (Essential)

  • SVQ Level 3 Electrician

  • City \& Guilds 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BD7671:2018\)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience post apprenticeship
Skills, knowledge \& behaviours:
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Participate as a member of a larger team

  • Excellent problem\-solving skills, utilising data where possible

  • Generate positive ethos throughout the department
The ability to cover other areas and work additional shifts would be an advantage.
