Job Title: ESG Manager
Reports To: COO
Location: UK
Employment Type: Full time Hybrid \-3 days in the office

Job Summary:

The ESG Manager will lead the development and execution of ESG strategy for Inventus products deployed in clinical trials via our digital health platform and device solutions. This role ensures that device provisioning, management, and lifecycle services are delivered in a sustainable, ethical, and compliant manner—supporting pharmaceutical and CRO clients in achieving their ESG and clinical objectives.

  • Responsible for integrating and leading a company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, focusing on reducing environmental impact (like carbon footprint), ensuring social responsibility, and aligning sustainability with business goals for long\-term value. Sustainability is moving from a niche function to a core business driver, impacting design, production, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities

1\. ESG Strategy \& Client Value Proposition

  • Define and lead ESG strategy for digital device solutions used in clinical trials (smartphones, tablets, wearables where applicable)

  • Embed ESG into the company’s product and service offering as a core differentiator for sponsors and CRO clients

  • Translate ESG capabilities into commercial value (e.g., reduced carbon footprint, improved patient inclusion, regulatory readiness)

  • Support business development teams with ESG positioning in client proposals and RFPs
2\. Sustainable Device Lifecycle (Device\-as\-a\-Service)
  • Oversee end\-to\-end sustainability of device lifecycle:

  • Responsible sourcing and procurement

  • Device configuration and deployment

  • Reverse logistics, retrieval, refurbishment, and reuse

  • Certified recycling and disposal

  • Drive circular economy models to maximise device reuse across trials and clients

  • Reduce packaging, transport emissions, and hardware footprint across deployments
3\. Supplier \& Partner ESG Management
  • Own ESG standards for OEMs (mobile phone/tablet manufacturers), leasing partners, and logistics providers

  • Integrate ESG criteria into vendor selection, contracting, and performance reviews

  • Monitor supplier compliance on issues such as labour practices, carbon emissions, and responsible materials sourcing

  • Partner with suppliers on decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives
4\. Environmental Impact \& Carbon Reporting
  • Measure and reduce Scope 3 emissions associated with device procurement, logistics, and usage

  • Provide ESG metrics and reporting to clients as part of service delivery

  • Maintain audit\-ready processes and documentation
5\. Product \& Innovation Integration
  • Collaborate with product, teams to embed ESG into platform design

  • Support development of sustainable product features (e.g., energy\-efficient apps, remote data capture optimisation)

  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in digital health and sustainable technology
6\. Client \& Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as ESG subject matter expert for pharma sponsors, CROs, and partners

  • Provide ESG advisory support to clients on device strategy in trials

  • Represent the company in industry groups (e.g., sustainable clinical trials initiatives, digital health alliances)

  • Build strong internal alignment across commercial, product, supply chain, and operations teams
Skills \& Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a tech vendor, digital health, or clinical trial technology environment

  • Strong understanding of ESG principles, especially within technology supply chains

  • Experience with mobile devices, device provisioning, or digital endpoints (smartphones/tablets)

  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to link ESG to client value
Desirable
  • Knowledge of device lifecycle management

  • Experience in carbon accounting / lifecycle assessment of technology products

  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks
Leadership \& Competencies
  • Commercially minded ESG leader with strong client\-facing capability

  • Ability to translate technical ESG concepts into practical client solutions

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills across global teams

  • Innovative mindset bridging sustainability and digital health

  • Results\-driven with ability to operate in fast\-paced, technology\-led environments
Qualifications
  • Degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Technology, Life Sciences, or related field

  • ESG, supply chain, or sustainability certifications advantageous
Pay: £50,000\.00\-£75,000\.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Birmingham B3 3AG: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
