ESG Coordinator

Summary
We have a vacancy for an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Coordinator to play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing this strategy. Responsibilities will include the development and implementation of SYR’s ESG projects and programmes, leading sustainability partnerships, representing the business at external events and engagements, ensuring regulatory compliance and the integration of ESG principles across all business activities.
The ESG Coordinator will also drive key projects such as sustainable energy initiatives, minimising the Company's impact on the environment (including the effects of climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, waste management, transport planning, etc.) together with community engagement programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic and Planning
- Implement and periodically review SYR’s comprehensive ESG strategy, ensuring it supports long\-term commercial and operational goals.
- Develop an ESG action plan and implement the requirements across all areas of SYR’s business activities.
- Seek and maintain beneficial relationships with sustainable energy partners.
- Develop and execute a robust internal audit schedule across all sites to ensure ongoing compliance and readiness for external audits.
- Work with other key SYR partners as far as their own ESG programmes influence our activities and *vice\-versa*. Taking our successes into account, work with our sales and marketing colleagues to draft our public statements on ESG for positive influence and the maintenance of an enviable reputation in the industry.
- Work with departmental managers to optimise sustainability in our supply chain and transport plan for SYR products, focusing on achieving class leading compliance with commercially sustainability goals.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders to encourage responsibility and industry best practices for the protection of the environment in our business affairs.
- Implement metrics and monitoring methodologies to reduce our overall carbon footprint towards ‘net zero’, delivering tangible evidence of continuous improvement and timely reporting on performance.
- Take ownership of the company’s carbon data collection, calculating Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions to establish a baseline for our ‘net zero’ roadmap.
- Maintain sustainability dashboards to report on key performance indicators regarding energy and water consumption and reduction of our carbon ‘footprint’.
- Assist the QHSE Manager in compiling high\-quality data for annual ESG reports and customer\-led sustainability disclosures.
- Correlate these data, engaging and sharing the results with our customers and suppliers for mutual benefit.
- Collaborate with colleagues and SYR’s interested parties to lead the delivery of SYR’s social and community media strategy, aligning SYR’s outreach initiatives and monitoring of social influence.
- Develop social influence initiatives across the organisation (for example, leading partnerships with local community enterprises and NGOs to support community outreach and social responsibility objectives).
- Develop and deliver the ESG Strategic Plan and monitor key ESG metrics, ensuring transparent reporting, engagement, and communication with various stakeholders.
- Develop our EMS in preparation for ISO14001 certification as part of our integrated management systems approach.
- Assume a highly visible role within the business, championing the integration of Company ESG objectives within all business activities.
- Support marketing and communications teams with the integration of ESG narrative into company communications.
- Ensure compliance with, and reporting on our environmental obligations.
- Be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant environmental or sustainability field of operation.
- Have a broad knowledge of ESG principles and have experience in the maintenance of ISO management systems, net zero strategy implementation, climate resilience, sustainable delivery, social impact, and community engagement.
- Be capable of managing multiple concurrent projects and the pressures for progress.
- Be able to articulate SYR’s ESG strategy and its importance to stakeholders throughout the Company structure.
- Bring their experience and desire to make a difference and relish the opportunity to make a material contribution to SYR’s development.
- Previous experience taking a business through a successful ISO 14001 or 50001 certification process.
- Qualification as an ISO 14001 Internal Auditor.
- A strong understanding of the ISO 14001 framework and the GHG Protocol for carbon reporting.

Pay: £30,000\.00\-£35,000\.00 per year
