Position: Development Control Engineer – Facilities \& Environment
Location: 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: Permanent
Working Hours: To be discussed at interview
Pay Rate: £42,771 per annum

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of development control and environmental functions within the Environment service

  • Assess and manage development\-related matters in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulatory requirements

  • Provide professional technical advice on development control, planning, facilities, and environmental issues

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, external organisations, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to support effective service delivery

  • Prepare clear reports, recommendations, technical assessments, and supporting information as required

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development control and environmental services, processes, and procedures
Requirements:

Must\-Have Requirements:

  • Relevant professional or technical experience in development control, planning, engineering, facilities, or an environmental discipline

  • Good understanding of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear technical advice

  • Ability to assess information, identify issues, evaluate risks, and provide practical solutions

  • Good organisational and time\-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, external organisations, and partner agencies
Nice\-to\-Have Requirements:
  • Previous experience working within a local authority or public\-sector environment

  • Relevant professional qualification or membership of a recognised professional body

  • Experience of working on development control or environmental matters within a local government setting

  • Knowledge and understanding of the London planning, development, and regulatory environment
