We’re a down\-to\-earth, hands\-on team, and we’re looking for a Refrigeration Installation Engineer’s Mate to join our installation team in the East Midlands.

This is a practical role working directly alongside an experienced Refrigeration Installation Engineer, supporting the installation of commercial refrigeration systems on customer sites across Scotland and, when required, further afield.

The Role

As a Refrigeration Installation Engineer’s Mate, you’ll work alongside our experienced engineers to help deliver refrigeration installation projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your day\-to\-day responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the Refrigeration Installation Engineer with commercial refrigeration installations.


• Helping with the installation of refrigeration equipment, pipework and associated components.


• Loading, unloading and moving equipment and materials.


• Using hand and power tools safely and appropriately.


• Assisting with preparation and installation work on customer sites.


• Supporting the engineer throughout the installation process.


• Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.


• Following all company and site health \& safety requirements.


• Working as part of a wider installation team to meet project deadlines.


• Carrying out other practical tasks to support the successful completion of projects.

Working Away

This is an important part of the role.

The position involves frequent travel and working away from home, including regular overnight stays. Projects can take you to different locations, and you should be comfortable being away from home for several days at a time when required.

You must therefore be flexible regarding travel and overnight accommodation.

What We’re Looking For

You don't necessarily need previous refrigeration experience.

We’re more interested in someone who is:

• Practical and hands\-on.


• Reliable and hardworking.


• Comfortable working on construction, engineering or customer sites.


• Physically capable of handling equipment and materials.


• Confident using basic hand tools, or keen to learn.


• Able to follow instructions and work well alongside an experienced engineer.


• Safety\-conscious.


• Flexible and willing to travel and stay away from home.


• Keen to develop their skills within the refrigeration and engineering industry.


• A positive team player with a good attitude.

Previous experience in construction, mechanical installation, plumbing, heating, HVAC, electrical work, engineering or another practical trade would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
