Overview of the role
The Engineering Storeman is responsible for the effective control, storage, and distribution of engineering spares, tooling, and consumables to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations. The role ensures that materials are available, accurately managed, and compliant with site standards, enabling engineering teams to maintain equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Responsibilities
- Maintain control of all engineering stores inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels and traceability
- Receive, inspect, and book in goods, ensuring compliance with quality and procurement requirements
- Issue materials, spares, and tooling to engineering and maintenance teams in a timely manner
- Manage stock replenishment, including min/max levels, reordering, and liaison with procurement
- Maintain organised, safe, and compliant storage areas in line with site standards and regulations
- Support asset reliability by ensuring critical spares availability and visibility
- Operate and maintain inventory management systems (e.g. ERP/CMMS) with high data accuracy
- Conduct regular stock checks and audits, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions
- Ensure correct handling, storage, and control of hazardous or controlled materials where applicable
- Support engineering activities by coordinating availability of parts for maintenance, breakdowns, and projects
- Drive continuous improvement within stores management (layout, stock control, efficiency)
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
- Experience working in an engineering stores, warehouse, or maintenance support environment
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience using inventory management systems (ERP or CMMS)
- Good understanding of engineering spares, tooling, and consumables
- Ability to manage stock control processes including goods\-in, issuing, and auditing
- Basic IT skills (Excel, stock systems)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with engineering and production teams
- Understanding of safe working practices and manual handling
