Engineering Manager
Overview
The Engineering Manager plays a key role in in providing safe and efficient functioning of fixed and mobile plant across the main and satellite locations in the Wrexham area. With a sound technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and regulations, the Maintenance Manager works as part of the senior management team in ensuring a safe working environment that supports an efficient operation and correlates with the company’s three core purposes.
On a day\-to\-day basis there is a need to liaise with the Operations Manager in prioritising activities with a clear understanding of production requirements. The operation of a planned maintenance schedule is a very necessary route in ensuring all equipment is safe to use. The schedule also assists in reducing incidences of equipment breakdown, so maximising equipment availability and production efficiency. Effective management of the equipment failure log through timely allocation of resource minimises the impact of downtime.
Key responsibilities / accountabilities
· Daily liaison with Operations Manager and Area Controllers to ensure engineering resources are prioritised to meet production and business needs
· Effective management of the planned maintenance schedules and compliance with PUWER and LOLER regulations for all fixed and mobile plant
· Maintaining site electrical certification
· Monitoring of expenditure on maintenance and repair costs by equipment item
· Compilation of specifications for items of replacement or new plant in line with current legislation and regulations
· Effective appointment and control of sub\-contractors including personnel induction and issuing/revoking permits to work
· The ability to work with specialist sub\-contractors
What we are looking for
. City and Guilds electrical / mechanical engineering Diploma or higher
· A flexible and enthusiastic manager with a passion for problem solving.
. Previous experience of running a small team of electrical and Mechanical engineers.
. Knowledge of Health and safety legislation and regulations.
· Time management and organisational skills.
· Demonstrates a sense of urgency and a desire to deliver against agreed targets.
· Good interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate clearly.
· Computer literate and understand Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook , ERP systems such as SAP business one)
· Be an excellent Timekeeper.
