The Engineer \- Signalling role can be based at any of our office locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Glasgow. At ORR we have adopted hybrid working and are currently expected to work from a workplace location for a minimum of two days per week or 40%

The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) is the independent safety and economic regulator for Britain’s railways and monitor of performance on England’s strategic road network. The team of Power, Control and Telecommunications comprise engineering experts for Electrical Power, Telecoms and Signalling. We support our Operations, Economic and Safety colleagues assuring a safe, economic and reliable railway.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer \- Digital Signalling, the role is primarily dealing with holding infrastructure managers (IM’s) such as Network Rail and HS1 to account for the asset management of conventional signalling systems during the transition to Digital Signalling. Opportunities to work with industry to help shape the progression of signalling systems. Working with other ORR departments to provide expert opinion during investigations and Periodic Reviews and be a key part of the Infrastructure Authorisation process.
